Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Hey Lindsey

My travel agent advised against it and at the time, so did Ana.  Things can sit in customs, get kicked around and are easily lost plus it can be extreamly expensive to ship something with the gurantee it'll be there on time.  Ana told me they have no way of securing what is sent and it may very well be used in another brides wedding if its seens as available...whatever that means but I woulndn't risk it!  Just ask everyone to pus something in their carry on and get some hard case suitcases

I am seriously bummed though because Yamina told me the Barracuda Bar would be perfect for welcome cocktails.  Um no, it closes at 6.  She confirmed today.  What does our invitation say?  7 at the Barracuda Bar.  I am confused as to why she'd suggest it in the first place, but whatever!  We will have to correct it in our welcome letter.  :)

We also ordered a heart shaped sand ceremony vase and cork bowl set from Wedding Star.  It's engraved with our initials and date.  I LOVE IT.  Also got 7 cameras for the reception tables and bridal party tank tops from etsy.  I feel like I get a wedding surprise in the mail every day, I love it!!

Question about shipping - how many of you are shipping things to the resort?  Honestly, I'd like to just pack them so I know they're with me, but I'm nervous about checking all the extra baggage.

I am nervous to ship because if something [like our sand for the ceremony or artificial flowers] gets stuck at customs, we're beat...we wouldn't have it.  Thoughts on this?

Has anyone heard from Evangelina!?

Will I have to purchase a calling card to call them.  I need a follow up on my dj and cake maker and she isn't replying and its driving me insane!

Also, is anyone interested in writing their entire wedding off next year? I am..... lol.  I'm hosting part 2 of my bachelorette party in Cancun using my Pure Romance business and because of such, my tax preparer said I can write the entire thing off so I thought I'd share that tidbit......

Or if anyone is interested in items themselves or you're in the DC/VA/MD/NJ area, host a party through me and I'll give you a free shopping spree at your party valued to 20% of the of the proceeds made at your party...I also do internet parties as well...

Ahhh you are right, it is a glass stopper!  Someone else said they used glue, but I am not sure how exactly.  The glue was supposed to keep the sand from messing up.  Does anyone remember how to do this?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
