Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

And there in lies the problem.  I'm probably going to go with the tall feather or short square ones, keep the packaging they came in which has all of the shatter proofing and put it in a hard body suit case.....this is my plan anyway but I'll probably carry it on board or it'll be his carry on bag...he just doesn't know it yet :)

Tammy!  THAT'S GREAT!!!  Can you get in contact with them and tell them a number of their brides have been trying to reach Evangelina but have received nothing in the form of a response since Christmas!  LOL  Thanks!

I know that they have fire dancers on Wednesday night by the stairs of the lobby. I would suggest to CALL the hotel and either speak to the front desk, conserge or even Evangelina. I called last week and asked to be connected to the wedding department and spend a good 10 minutes talking to Evangelina.  I bought a calling card for 2 bucks and it gave me almost an hour if talk time to mexico (pretty good deal)  I am glad my post was helpful to you and feel free to ask any question :)

SOOOOOOOOOOOO The hotel has themed nights!?  I was not made aware of this like....AT ALL! Are you serious!?  I wonder how I could find out what they may be seeing as how Evangelina WON'T reply to me....GREAT! This is what this forum is for and I'm so thankful for that.  You've actually given me my initiations now...I had no real idea but you've solved a good bit of it. Thank so much.  I found this company called sprouille designs on ETSY....here is the website but they are incredible!

Are you girls planning to get your hair/make up done by the resort? Has anyone heard whether or not the spa is good? Just curious. Unfortantely no one is my party is good at hair or make up.. I am at their mercy... Is anyone bringing down a hairstyle/make up artist around week of May 21st? If so would that person want to take on a extra job? Just throwing it out there.

Thanks!!

I am using the resort.  For 5 girls, plus my free hair and make up it is $599.  I am excited though!  When I was there, the spa was fabulous!  I don't think they will screw it up.

So our invitations are going out this weekend!  They're at the printer now and we got samples yesterday...they are AWESOME!  My sister in law to be designed them and I am so thrilled with them.

I am seriously bummed though because Yamina told me the Barracuda Bar would be perfect for welcome cocktails.  Um no, it closes at 6.  She confirmed today.  What does our invitation say?  7 at the Barracuda Bar.  I am confused as to why she'd suggest it in the first place, but whatever!  We will have to correct it in our welcome letter.  :)

We also ordered a heart shaped sand ceremony vase and cork bowl set from Wedding Star.  It's engraved with our initials and date.  I LOVE IT.  Also got 7 cameras for the reception tables and bridal party tank tops from etsy.  I feel like I get a wedding surprise in the mail every day, I love it!!

Question about shipping - how many of you are shipping things to the resort?  Honestly, I'd like to just pack them so I know they're with me, but I'm nervous about checking all the extra baggage.

I am nervous to ship because if something [like our sand for the ceremony or artificial flowers] gets stuck at customs, we're beat...we wouldn't have it.  Thoughts on this?

Lindsey M, I am also planning on using the salon- how did you find out about the pricing? Did you already make reservations for your wedding party and is the 599 just for hair?

I think Yamina must be new her last email to me was a bit confusing- I did read on this forum that someone had their welcome cocktails at the lobby bar and it worked out great that is what I was planning on doing, I believe it is open until 1am.

I am also working on finishing my invitations and I am so excited they came out incredible.

As for shipping I am going to try to avoid, I would be very concern of something not making it especially something really important like your flowers I think it is to risky. I was planning on recruiting close family members in helping check extra luggage.

Do you know anything about day passes for the hotel?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
