Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Check out my youtube channel: BelCantoRagazza for the Dreams site tour.  It's videos 1-11.  It's the entire resort.  They show cocktail hour locations as well as various other locations.  I hope this helped.

they finally just emailed me the "questionnaire" for our wedding and also Anel contacted me directly for photography, which is good.

how many guests per table? trying to figure out how many centerpieces and table cloths etc I'm going to need.

anyone going with their dj or just doing your own thing for music and renting their sound setup?

they ask me to provide 3 songs for the ceremony... any suggestions?

looking for suggestions on websites for... rose petals, chair bows, FABRIC FOR THE GAZEBO (their prices are nuts for that)

location for the cocktail hour? they ask this but give no options.

they say basic round or square 1 tier wedding cake... yet send no pics... is it really that basic? should i look into an outside vendor?

thanks!

as i think of more ill post as they pop up

Hi All,

I have recently gotten engaged and we decided to do a destination wedding.  I went to Secrets Capri last year and it was a great resort, we loved it.  We would do it there no question but we just had a little one and it's an adults only resort.  We found Dreams which is run by the same company so thought it would be great as well.  I have been reading the forum and reviews and think this would be a good place.  I'm going to email them to get a quote started.  How did you start the planning process?  I have plenty of questions and figure it would be easier to put everything in one email since I have read that they take a while to reply back.  We haven't set a date yet but I think we would do it mid or late 2013.  My fiance thinks more like 2014 since we have a newborn and we need to save up but I don't want to wait that long.  How much give or take should I budget for this?  I see that it can cost just as much as a wedding at home and I want to keep the costs low.  Plus I don't think my whole family would go which would help to lower the cost cheesy.gif.  I'm going to ask for a quote for 60 ppl but think it would be more like 40 or so.  Any thoughts on how to keep the costs down?  I'm also a bit lazy so want to keep everything as simple as possible without too much hassle. Thanks all.

Hi!

I am having some trouble getting through to Eva. If you by any chance have pictures of centerpeices and flowers available, do you mind sending them to me? Do you also have any pictures of the cakes available?

Also, does anyone know the height of huppah on the beach-- I am planning to bring my own stuff to decorate.

Sorry to bombard with questions, just getting antsy!

Thanks so much

:)

Hey! looks like we'll be getting married the same week. How far along are you in planning. I have pretty much done nothing and thinking maybe I should be freaking out pretty soon. It is hard for me to even think of planning anything when I have so few details regarding almost every aspect of the wedding. I like to have things very particular and the lack of clarity in the response emails from the WC frustrate me.

I have a dilema...my wedding is on Feb. 25th, 2012 and a few more guests are coming than anticipated (not many).  This is fine for us, however, the resort is completely sold out for that weekend and our room block is all booked.  Do any other brides have rooms still available for that same weekend that are not taken? or there are cancellations?  If so, I'll gladly take them off your hands.  Our guests can stay elsewhere but would prefer to stay at the same resort as the rest of us.  Thanks!

Hello again,

I emailed the wedding coordinator and I got a response in less than 24 hours which is pretty good.  I asked a lot of questions and Evangelina pretty much answered all the questions.  Some were a bit vague but it helps me start my planning process.  She sent me the list of options for the flowers, centerpieces as well as the list for the silver & gold appetizers and the dinner menu for the love and ultimate package.  Let me know if anyone needs it I'll email it to you. The dinner menus were a bit disappointing to me but she didn't mention anything about a buffet.  Does anyone have that information? Does it got more to get the buffet?

It would be soo helpful if you can email all that info to me.  I have emailes Evangelina last week requesting for her to write up my contract so that I can already send over my deposit as well as i requested all the info regarding flowers and menus but still havent recieved an email back from her.  My email is Vika333@gmail.com  again I really appreciate this.

Once you put your deposit down for a specific package can you change to a different package??
They have the day/time/location open for our wedding now we just need to put the deposit down for the right package.

I don't need my hair/makeup done because my sister is a cosmetologist, I don't want a cocktail hour, I don't want a mexican trio, etc etc so I think the free package is going to be the way to go.

Has anyone else done the free package and had a reception with it?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
