Thanks so much for the info TigerLily!  It was sooooo helpful

TO ALL THE LADIES...I'm running into a dilemma. My hunny's mother passed away when he was 14, and he was very close to his mom and I know he misses her and has said more than once in the past month how she would have loved to have been there....How can I encorporate her memory in our wedding without really telling him. I thought about a candle with and enscription but that seemed like its been done....but not over done...Any ideas?

I'm really annoyed right now!!!  I know some girls on here have used and are using outside vendors.  We want Cancun Wedding Video to come in and do a cinematography type video for us since our wedding is OUR DAY.  Yamina said no.  No outside vendors.  I'm sorry.  I love Dreams.  I loved it when I visited... but I think it's complete garbage that you cannot use the vendor of your choice.  In the states you could!!!  I just said this to her:

Yamina,

With all due respect, I read the message board on BestDestinationWeddings.com and many, many other brides have used outside vendors.  In fact, I know of one right now who is using an outside DJ.  I know that Mike Cantarell has done weddings there before as well. We really, really like Dreams, but it would be a shame to have to take our wedding to another resort because we can't use the videographer we want.  This is our dream wedding and we want everything to be perfect.  If you can't negotiate letting us use Mike Cantarell then we might have to consider another resort.  Thanks in advance.   Lindsey   FI says I sounded a little snotty but I don't care.  I think it's a stupid policy and there are way of working around it.  What would they do if one of my guests was a videographer?  I asked if Mike could be a guest and pay for a room for him and she said no.  I am really aggravated.  Jerks.   </end rant>

Anyhow, my FI (now husband : ) and I got married at DRC on Saturday, Dec 3rd. We're both extremely happy with our decision. The resort is gorgeous, staff is friendly, and even our picky eaters raved about the food.

Yamina is great- she's very friendly and did a wonderful job with our wedding...and she managed to pull everything off exactly how we envisioned it. (I had Ana before, so I was only in contact with Yamina for a few weeks). I brought her two- yes two- large suitcases full of stuff- and everything worked out fine. Anyhow, here's our slideshow. If anyone has any quetions, don't hesitate to ask. I'll try to answer them as best I can.

I paid a couple hundred dollars (I think... as my memory is fading) for the gazebo decor.. Originally I wanted to have one solid color on all 4 sides of the gazebo (arches) - but the price came back like $500 or so dollars - so I asked if they could just do the front side and twist up the 2 colors (puriple/white) and they did it. As for those small bows - I didnt ask for that or choose that color they just put them there.. I didn't know there would be bows but I just rolled with it. After the ceremony they took it down and re-used it for the entry way for the reception which I had no idea they were going to do. As seen here

For the ceremony table we used one of the centerpieces that were going to go to the reception afterwards - Part of the package included the ceremony flowers and also one for the bride and groom table - we chose this style for the ceremony table and our table and simply had them make a few more of these for the other tables - For the extras they charged an arm and leg - I want to say something like 180 each extra (I know right - get the vase, throw some flowers and water in it) - but they also laid down petals and stuff on the table.

We really liked this style but didnt have any interest in trying to bring down these glass vases - worried that they could break - so in this case - I paid for the convenience.

One very important thing I should say to all the future brides is that in this type of destination wedding situation you kind of have to roll with the odd "misses" that occur and roll with the punches - Expect to pay more - they pull it all together in one day and some things may not play out exactly how you want. When the show starts - that's it - you will be on cloud 9 and all the small details go away.

I hope that helps.... ALSO for anyone who wants to ask me any question please PM me because I am not paying such close attention to this thread and questions for me might get missed.

I heard from Yamina yesterday and only because we are going down for a site visit in 2 weeks--I e-mailed her like 5 times (the same e-mail) to make sure that she received it so we could confirm our time for the site visit. I used the same e-mail as listed from ssapper. Maybe when you do get in touch..ask if you can set up a phone call to discuss your questions...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
