I have been thinking that there are going to be more people there than I had originally anticipated, so I was considering what some people had written about cashing in the cocktail hour for more people at dinner.  As I was telling my step-mom, she suggested we cash in the DINNER for more people/food/time/drinks at cocktail hour, and make that into my reception.  I was thinking I'd rent the dance floor then too.  Bottom line is, with the wedding being at 4:00, everyone can just go to dinner at 7:30 or 8:00.  It bugs me to think of paying for extra people to eat at an all inclusive resort.  It's not the actual dollar amount--it's the principle!

Has anyone thought about doing that?  Any advice--pros or cons that anyone can think of?  I am just starting this so I will take all the opinions out there!!!

Thanks, Katie

I agree! After reading some reviews, I think I'm going to ditch the cocktail hour and use the extra cash for other items..

I sent my down payment 12 days ago and Gina replied right away.  She said she would let me know when she was going to charge my card - She has still not charged the card.  I know my date is secure but my family is going to start booking their flights soon.

Do they send you a formal contract or form with everything written out?

How does this all work?

I am getting nervous and my wedding is March 18th 2012.

HELP! Thanks

We leave tomorrow!!!!  I haven't heard from Gina in 2 weeks which I think is odd, although most things are sorted out. They included my ceremony music, the light up dance in the DJ price.

They gave us our cocktaill credit which is more than the few extra dinners we need. I found lots of people said they were going to come but when push came to shove and it was time to pay numerous people didn't pay. I don't mind paying the extra since you have your own staff and a different meal. We figured people are spending lots of money and taking vacation time to come to our wedding as well. Just our thoughts...

We are gone for two weeks but I'll write a review when I come back as a Mrs :)

it took me a few weeks to get a "confirmation" (which was just an email with a .jpg of the receipt for the deposit). I would try emailing the wedding department again (not Gina but the dercwedding email address). It sounds like Gina hasn't been answering emails and im wondering if shes no longer with dreams.... anyone know?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
