Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

@Sapper - The Desires Lounge stays open pretty late and kids can enter. They have a pool table and the music gets pretty loud. I can't recall how late it was when we left I want to say 12:30- but after the wedding and having fun at the lounge we were spent!

There is no security guard and it's not treated as a club like you might think in the U.S. just a couple of bar tenders and a DJ. Laser lights and some fun music. I did see a small kid hanging out with parents playing pool... its very laid back.

After spending a day in the sun, the wedding, photoshooting - 10-11 o clock feels like 1 or 2 in the morning.

Has anyone received a private rehearsal dinner price?  I was quoted $48 per person plus 11% and 15%,  I feel like $60 a person is toooo much for private.  For 20-25 people it works out to be like $1500!  I thought it was $35 a head?  I really want a private one though...

Maybe if you did the buffet for the private would be maybe 35 a person. You can do a semi private in a restaurant for i think 10 or 15 a person.

Hi Everyone!  My fiance and I are looking DRC for April 2012.  I'm wondering if any of you have a TA that is familiar with the resort that you could suggest.

This forum has been so helpful with our decision making process, so thanks to everyone for posting their experiences and reviews!

So I am torn.  My future in laws are giving us a couple grand to put towards anything we want for the wedding.  It is their gift to us.  Immediately, I thought about a private rehearsal dinner.  I thought no one would hear our toasts, we could present the gifts, etc.  Fiance and his mom are practical so they think we should have a semi private rehearsal dinner and use the rest towards our at home reception [which will be in my parents backyard like a romantic garden party]. Fiance also suggested paying for our guests catamaran trips [which I think isn't necessary.] and putting is aside for a honeymoon.  I do think it needs to be used towards the wedding...a private rehearsal and the centerpieces seemed like the perfect option and I feel defeated that both of them think a private rehearsal isn't necessary.  They said I could have whatever I want but now I just feel spoiled and stupid. :(

Sorry for venting.

What would you use a spare $2000 for at Dreams?

Ohh that's awesome! Congrats! Hope we get the same response when we're finally allowed to send our save-the-dates out. :) And, that's a good attitude - not counting people until they book. You'd think a destination wedding would be more affordable but the costs seem to add up no matter what.

Running of the brides is great - but go early and be prepared. I went with my future-sis-in-law who is also getting married next yr and it was insanity. Take people with you so they can help you get styles you like and trade dresses you don't. It's a mad house but a great experience (and an awesome deal). Good luck! I hope you find your dress! :)

Yeah I sent out the save the dates a 3 weeks ago. No one is really in contact with me just our travel agent. I felt bad because she said she knew the exact date everyone got them since her phone never stopped ringing and she had a ton of emails in her inbox. She's waiting till the 17th to book anyone though so I'll start seeing who is coming and all of that good stuff by next weekend. I've been getting mixed responses from everyone so who knows. Like I told my mom and fiance we won't count people until they have officially booked not just by them saying they're coming.

Yea our ceremony is at the gazebo as well but pool deck is what I think i'm going with instead of my original idea of the ballroom. Ever since i saw the photos on here of the setup and how pretty it looks at night I changed my mind. If the weather doesn't cooperate it will definately be in the ballroom. For dresses I just started looking at different things online but haven't gone and physically looked. The running of the brides is here in chicago next friday the 16th so was thinking of maybe going to that after the morning madness to check out some styles and materials. For colors I am going for bright pink and orange. I at first was thinking aqua/teal and pink but have made the final decision of orange and pink since it looks more beachy/tropical.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
