Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hey NJ2012, The packages include a certain amount of time for photo/video. If you want to increase that time (thereby ensuring photo/video of both ceremony and reception) you can. Just let your coordinator know.

We choose to hire an outside vendor for our photography because it was the most important aspect of our wedding (other than getting married haha) to us. So we wanted to make sure we got the best quality photos we could, thought the resort photographer is excellent! I would just recommend you get it in writing from the resort that you can use an outside vendor if you chose to go this route. They don't seem to like allowing outside photographers at their weddings. We got it in writing that we could use a photographer of our choosing and im going to include her on our guest list, she'll also be staying the night at DRC.

Did anyone have trouble deciding on which wedding package to use?  I'm in the process of booking my wedding next September but I have questions about what is included and what isn't included in the packages.  I'm leaning towards the Love package since we will have close to 20 guests...anyone have any suggestions or feedback on the packages?  Any hidden costs or necessary items left off the packages?  Thanks:)

You look gorgeous and I love your dress.  My dress is very similar to yours! I want to do an all white bouquet for myself and I love yours.  Is that a choice they gave to you or did you send a photo of it to them? Did you have to pay extra for that one or is that what was included it the package? Congratulation!

Please enjoy and ask me any other questions you may have regarding the wedding/setup/flowers/etc...

Hi Anne,

I sent them pictures of the type of flowers and colors I wanted on the huppah.  I actually could not find anything online that looked like they way my huppah looks on the day of the wedding but my wedding coordinator, Gina, knew exactly what I was trying to envision and she and the florist went above my expectations!  Also, I had sent them a picture of the cake I wanted.  The cake I got for my wedding did not look like the picture I sent them but they made up for it as it was twice the size and they added so many roses so I was extremely happy with that.  I also did get my hair and makeup done at the resort.  My stylist's name is Victoria and she did a fantastic job!  She has all the makeup supplies and if you make an appointment with them and send them in pictures of your hairstyle and makeup idea, they will do their best to match the look as they did for me and I was also satisfied.

To sum it all up, I did do a lot of emailing back and forth with the wedding coordinator and she has all my emails and photos she keeps a file of.  A week or two before your wedding date, she will put the photos and information all together for a big summary of the items you requested specifically and send you a copy of the breakdown including the prices you both agreed on, then when you get to the resort to meet with her a few days before your wedding, you both will discuss it one more time to make sure nothing has changed or if anything has to be added!  They recommend that you find photos that look exactly the way you want whether it be the chuppah decor, the cake, the table setting, etc...

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Hi.  Great, I've been watching your posts and knew you got married last week and have been waiting to hear your review.  My date is October 21 and I think yours was the closest to mine than anyone else on the forum.  I hope it was the best ever!!!

Anxiously waiting...Thanks, Diana

Yea they can do up to 3 but she told me as long as i guarantee 100 people mine will be the only wedding that day so now that's one less worry I have. I think you can request but would either have to pay for the difference maybe. I'm not sure how they handle that. When I emailed her about I got a really fast response which was great.

I have Yamina. So far so good with her. Have you decided on colors or location??

I'm working with both Ana and Gina...not sure who's officially assigned to me as I receive communication from both.

Hi Ladies. I have Gina as my wedding coordinator, she has been fantastic!!  Since we are just over 3 months away her responses have been within a day two at the max. She has been very flexible with the food choices, I have Anel as our photographer. Gina has been great working with me on our flowers, bouquets etc. She offered to arrange having our OOT bags placed in everyone's rooms, booking our hair/makeup appointments and all our massages etc from out ultimate package.  The only thing that has come up is I've asked her multiple times about using a different dj, so far she hasn't said no...yet.

Hi Ladies,

I'm planning a December wedding which feels way closer than it should! And I'm stressing now. I need a calm down moment from any of you girls who've been where I am. Can any of you share a list of items I should be tackling in the next month or so to keep our planning on track? I'm expecting between 60-70 guests so it feels like a bigger endeaver for a destination but this could be a hyperventilation moment!

I've so far, found the love of my life (check mark number one), bought the dress for myself and the bridesmaids and maid of honor, sent out send the dates/invites and signed up about 40 guests.

What I haven't done yet is communicate directly with any wedding coordinators at the resort. Am I really scr*wed ladies? So far they've not responded to the two emails I've sent. Is this normal? How can I get in touch with them if they don't email back? Do you girls recommend I call and set up a conference call?

Thank you tons for any advice you may be able to share to calm me down. I've read through a few posts here and it feels like there's a really nice community with shared ideas. I look forward to being a contributing member and providing the "calm down" advice too if anyone needs anything later from me!

Congrats to all of you on this forum on your engagements.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
