Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Congrats at rick949. Hope everything works out as planned. Can't wait for the review. Unfortunately and sadly I had to postpone my wedding for another year. My date was 6/24/12 now 6/23/13 :-(. I'm due any day now and planning a wedding with a soon to be new born has proven to be a bit stressful. I thought I could handle it but it's the best destination for now. Bummer. I had ordered my real touch flowers, paid the an outside DJ, downpayment on my cake vendor and bought many decorations. I guess I will put it in storage for now. In the meantime i will live through all of your planning and/or reviews....

Actually, it's my understanding that the price for my package [ultimate] does not come down just because you don't use something that is included...is this what you meant?  I was told there is no refunds to things you do not use, that is why it's better to do a lower package and pay for add ons.

The cake vendor said they usually charge the $50 fee but that's about it....if they are dropping off a cake and securing it, it needs no equiptment.  So they can be guest as far as they are concerned....how do they not know your not related and your aunt who makes cakes is bringing her cake?  HAHAHAHA!!!!  She said this to me!

Just to add to what others say - don't stress! We are leaving this Monday for our wedding 8•26•11

We were contacted just this last week by Gina our WC - its quickly apparent that DRC has this system down. We more or less put all our pictures and questions into a word .doc and she has responded with the the same word doc and included her comments and prices. The only thing that they really needed to know from us at this point was our flower selection and cocktail hour food choices - beyond that all of the smaller details we will handle simply 3-4 days before our wedding. We are bringing down our OOT bags and several decorations on our own in a couple of plastic crates from Walmart.

After we get back I will write up a review and be available to answer any of your questions - This website has been very effective for us in terms of understanding what DRC has to offer and t would only be right if we contributed as well.

As long as it doesn't rain - this should be fun!

I thought you were able to swap out things if you didn't want them. I really dont want a mariachi band or the trio so I figured I would swap that out for the sound system. Theres no way to do that???

I was told no...but you can double check again.  I was told each thing is separate and if you don't want something in the package you do not get refunded for it.  :(

Well that stinks. I wouldn't want to be refunded just swap out a few things. Maybe my travel agent can work out some deal since we are basically bringing 100+ people to their resort for a week. Fingers crossed!!

Yea, I'm pretty sure Lindsey is right. You can not swap out the whole cake thing...you would just take that hit if you didnt want to use their included cake. I htink it is what it is after you pick your package or whatever.

Chula,

Sorry to hear about the move of the wedding date but congratulations of your new upcoming little one!....I was wondering which outside DJ and cake vendor did you use? Did your WC at DRC have any problems with this? And did you have to pay extra or a fee??

Really now?!  Ana gave me a different quote and advised me to pick the comp package and just add on as the cost would be the same.  I despise the side story game...*hmmmmmm*  in my marge simpson voice

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
