Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

I've been receiving the same info and yes, it's extremely frustrating b/c you're budgeting for a wedding you don't know how much to budget for. It's not fair but I don't know how much control we have over this (and at this point it's close to none).

We're tackling the issue by putting all wedding details such as DJ, Photography, etc. on hold until we receive a price list for 2012. The only thing we've confirmed is the wedding package we want and this way we can prioritize if the prices go up more than what we can afford. Also, I made a preliminary spreadsheet with 2011 prices and added a 12% increase to all our have to's and want to's to get an idea of what our end budget could potentially look like. Granted I may be overestimating a little but I'd rather do that than underestimate. Based on the projection, I also divided up the main guest list into A, B and C and if the prices go up way more than expected, the guests are getting chopped off the list. Not sure if this helps but this is how we're coping with it.

After not hearing from Ana for a couple of months, I was finally able to get a hold of someone in the wedding department and found out that Gina is the coordinator for my wedding day (May 19, 2012). As soon as I spoke with her I confirmed my locations and asked her to send me the questionnaire I have seen some of you mention on here. Within minutes, she sent it over and I sent her a detailed email just brining her up to date on all the things I had aready mentioned to Ana.

She responds to me the next day and tells me that all the pricing that Ana had quoted me on (DJ, Photography, Lanterns, Ultimate Package) are all 2011 prices and that they will send me the 2012 prices as soon as they get them. Have any of you ran into this problem?

I dont think it is fair that they are chaning the prices if I have requested all the above based on the prices offered in the wedding brochure. Ana never mentioned the price change.

Have any of you had this problem?? So frustrated! Please help!!

OMG!!!  I may smack the security guy if they do that to my sand after my wedding!!!!  lol Thank you for the hint!!!! Elmers Glue....whodathunkit!? cheer2.gif

You just put about an inch or two (depending on how much room you have between the sand and the top) of glue on the top and gradually it seeps down and seals the sand. It may create bubbles at the top, so just pop those and put more glue. It does make the sand a little bit darker, but it seals it well. You may need to do it a few times, depending on how much sand you have. The first time sealed the top so I didn't have to worry that it would spill, but I did it once a day for 3 days and it was completely done. The security guy at the Cancun airport didn't know what it was so he turned it upside down and shook it and the sand didn't move at all. Worked well for me!

Hope this helps!

Hi Ladies

I was looking for other entertainment alternatives for my wedding there and managed to get in contact with a pyrotechnic person. They gave me some really great quotes for a REAL firework display.  If you are interested, I can email you the pdf that was sent to me. Does anything have anything else besides cigar rollers and fire dancers. My hubby to be likes both, but I'm more keen on the fire dancers as I want him to quit smoking as it is, but I'll let the cigar smoking go for this night only unless I can find something else.

OMG!!! Thank you!!!  My wedding is also on North Beach and they want my reception to be on the beach although I'm trying to get it somewhere else, BUT I'm losing that battle.

for those who already got married at dreams what happens when the reception is finished? How do they announce that is it over and do people just pick up their stuff and leave or is there an announcement that the bride and groom are leaving? I was thinking of maybe having sparklers at the end when we leave the reception but not sure. What do you all think?

These are all great questions. I'm wondering if they will pack everything up for you and bring it to your room also.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
