Hello ladies,

After not hearing from Ana for a couple of months, I was finally able to get a hold of someone in the wedding department and found out that Gina is the coordinator for my wedding day (May 19, 2012). As soon as I spoke with her I confirmed my locations and asked her to send me the questionnaire I have seen some of you mention on here. Within minutes, she sent it over and I sent her a detailed email just brining her up to date on all the things I had aready mentioned to Ana.

She responds to me the next day and tells me that all the pricing that Ana had quoted me on (DJ, Photography, Lanterns, Ultimate Package) are all 2011 prices and that they will send me the 2012 prices as soon as they get them. Have any of you ran into this problem?

I dont think it is fair that they are chaning the prices if I have requested all the above based on the prices offered in the wedding brochure. Ana never mentioned the price change.

Have any of you had this problem?? So frustrated! Please help!!

Yes, that definitely helps. I guess I need to figure out exactly what capacity they may be operating at. Thank you!!! :)

Yeah, we decided to do the welcome party instead of a rehearsal dinner - just personal preference - and free :) It made it easy to walk around and chat with everyone. I picked the Lobby Bar because from other reviews, it seemed like the best place to get a group together and having now been there, it was a good choice. The lobby is beautiful, really open and they usually have live music at night. I chose Thursday at 8:30 because all of the guests would be there by then, it would allow people to go to dinner first if they wanted to, and the lobby is open air, so it was much cooler by that time. I let them know about it before we went..I sent out an e-mail to everyone and included it in that.

Some of the nights we had more luck with restaurants than others. The first few nights we had no trouble getting 10+ people in for dinner pretty quick, but the last few nights, it took over an hour and we were seated separately. If you go right when they open, you will probably have the best luck. The resort was at full capacity when we were there, so that may have been part of it.

Hope this helps!

So, I brought the sand ceremony down.  I ordered it from sandsationalsparkle.com.  It was pretty cheap and they had a lot of colors of sand to choose from.

As for the centerpieces, I did not pay extra for those.  However, I did want the tower of lanterns and apparently it was broken.  So they threw in the centerpieces and put the lanterns on the pool deck filled with some sand.  The lanterns lined the whole pool deck.  Looked good, but would have still preferred the tower.  Not sure how much those centerpieces would have cost.

We did not do the dance floor.  I was quoted $600 and am glad I didn't do it.  Our party danced all night and it wasn't necessary.  One way to keep control of cost.

The cake.  That was standard.  I did not upgrade it.  It was included in the ultimate package.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was layered.  One funny thing, we ordered chocolate and when we went to cut it, it was difficult.  The cake seemed like there was something hard in it.  We cut thru it and it was a pineapple filled cake!  Who know!!!!  It was kinda funny, and my husband actually preferred it.

So a few hiccups that night, but we just rolled with it.

Let me know if you have more questions, hopefully I helped.

I had the same concern and asked around and was actually told the best thing to seal the sand was Elmer's school glue of all things. You just put about an inch or two (depending on how much room you have between the sand and the top) of glue on the top and gradually it seeps down and seals the sand. It may create bubbles at the top, so just pop those and put more glue. It does make the sand a little bit darker, but it seals it well. You may need to do it a few times, depending on how much sand you have. The first time sealed the top so I didn't have to worry that it would spill, but I did it once a day for 3 days and it was completely done. The security guy at the Cancun airport didn't know what it was so he turned it upside down and shook it and the sand didn't move at all. Worked well for me!

Hope this helps!

Regarding the sand ceremony...does the sand travel well AFTER the ceremony?  I don't want the design to get all messed up so what do you recommend and how do the containers keep the sand from mixing up if at all?

Hey ladies.  There are 80 days left to the wedding day.  I am super excited.  I actually had the wonderful surprise of a bridal shower brunch yesterday.  I had absolutely no idea.  It wasn't something I was planning to do or wanted anyone to but I am glad my sister in law-to-be did.  It was wonderful.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
