Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Okie Dokie!  Here are our STD's!  I couldn't really think of anything else to make them look nicer. I thought about a silver ribbon on top of the silver trim around the envelope but decided against it in the end.  What do you guys think?

Oh my list is both unorganized and sloppy. Its basically,

photographer--a list of of the ones with votes on whose the best, probably gonna go with the one the resort keeps in their back pocket since everyone has given them reviews, and then it spans off into random ideas for pics.  Then I have my budget ideas, do I want fire dancers, do i want cigar rollers, do we want the light up floor, fireworks, pros and cons, find out how much they are, i have a list of different cost so I plan on using them as bargaining chips because different brides have different quotes.

BUT WAIT....REAL TOUCH FLOWERS.....DO TELL!!!!  This is the first I'm hearing of such. I would love to make my brides maids bouquet with these and have a real bouquet for myself.....BUT DON'T SHIP!!!  The one thing I did get from Ana right after I reserved my date, she said not to ship, it gets caught up in customs and they have nowhere do keep them safe until your arrival and there is no gurantee they won't get opened and used for another wedding. In earlier post, several brides ran into this problem, its best to bring a suitcase with your stuff and do it down there

My wedding is 5-12-2012.  I talked to my mom  and she said I'm probably getting too excited and I should plan my OOT bags after I have a final guest list and I know exactly whose coming which makes sense. I was gonna just get a bunch of fun stuff,.....including condoms for the single folks, but I have a lot of old people that would be there...I DO NOT WANT THEM TO SEE CONDOMS!  I would be mortified!  smile41.gif

Whats on your list and you sub bullets?  I'm just curious because I feel like I can't organize my thoughts.  I know I did a lot already but I just don't know what else there is!!  When is your wedding?

I am bringing my own chair bows and actually considering bringing my own flowers now.....there's several artists on Etsy who make their own bouquets with "real touch flowers."  They look grogeous and SO REAL.  I am thinking about doing it if I can ship them ahead of time.  I am anxious to hear back form the girl.

Also those of you who are doing OOT bags...look on Etsy for ideas!!!  They have a whole bunch of crafters who hand paint bags and such.  I am excited.

I found a description of Real Touch flowers for you here:

http://www.hibiscusflorals.com/silk-flowers-101

I am using a designer on Etsy called Alexis Grace Designs.  So far she seems great and is very prompt in her responses, which makes me feel secure.  I emailed Yamina to discuss shipping procedures.  I'd hate to check my flowers in a suitcase.. I am super nervous about bringing them on the plane with me but I don't know.  At first I thought I wanted a real bouquet....with orchids and lilies and ahhh it was gorgeous...but they quoted me $300!!!!  The bridesmaids were $199.  I just think it's absurd so I am exploring alternative options.  There's also a good youtube video about real touch flowers:

I love the idea of having my bouquet in my house for years to come in a vase and always looking back at that day!  Hope this helped you!!

Lindsey you are such a huge help!   Did the resort stop allowing all outside vendors in? I want to use real flowers but those prices are ridiculous!

Kad,

Thanks!  My fiance says I should work in the stock market because I can't stop researching things to get the best deal.  I don't know about the outside vendors.  Originally I wanted to bring in my own photographer but I think based on what I've seen from the resort photographer I am going to stay with them.  I did like the idea of having real flowers, and I think customs might be a pain in the butt....but I also like the price cut... I am getting TROPICAL FLOWERS, like orchids which are my fave, for $300 less than I would if I used the real ones at the resort.  Plus, they feel waxy like real flowers.  I still like the idea of keeping my bouquet too.  I am pretty much sold on the fake flowers.  This entire wedding is surprising me... I never thought I'd do a destination as opposed to a church, buy my dress from David's Bridal, or be searching for the best deal.  I am surprising myself with my decision making skills, haha.

I definitely like price cuts haha. I just emailed Ana to see if they still allow outside vendors for flowers. A few years ago the girls could use outside vendors for everything! I guess the resort figured they were losing out on money.  I decided to go with the resort photographer too. I think she takes beautiful photos. Are you doing the TTD session as well? I keep going back and forth. This week I really want to do it.

We had started planning a wedding here at home and the next thing I knew the costs were out of hand! I just hate the thought of spending that on one night. My fiance was against a destination wedding until he talked to a few people that had done it. Then he changed his mind and is all about it!

PS - I will NOT be putting KY in my bags!  I just started cut/pasting ideas from other posts I saw! :)
I just realized that KY was actually on someone's list! UGH! :)

Haha that's funny! I just saw a thread this morning in another forum that lists everything and anything you can think of for OOT bags.  It's a big help.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
