Awwww, Hi Shane!  Your wife to be is so lucky, my fiancee chips in when I ignore him and cut, glue and stuff our save the dates which are a month behind schedule....but he won't get into the  "girly stuff" as he puts it.  If you have any questions, everyone is super helpful and this is the best thing for DRC since sand and blue water!  WELCOME!

I know this thread says "brides" post here, but what about us proactive grooms (to be)?? I'm just trying to take some of the stress away from my B2B (bride to be) by doing a lot of the research/planning myself. It's actually kinda fun (shhhhh..don't tell anyone ;)

Anyway...we're booked at DRC!!

Lindsey - my Fi and I sat and watched your Youtube videos last night and got so excited lol. Those are some valuable videos! Do you know if it was at full capacity when you were visiting? It looked so peaceful...

currentMrsS - nice cameo in Lindey's video :)

dimplesandsuga - thank you! Looks like your wedding is a couple weeks after ours. I've already learned so much from this site. I've literally read every post on this thread :)

I'm still wondering if it's possible to just add a sit down dinner onto the complimentary Paradise package? We're bringing a photographer, as well as someone for hair/makeup, so the wedding packages just don't make much sense for us. But, it looks like the silver/gold dinners only apply to the Dreams of Love and Ultimate packages. Anyone know for sure?

Hello Everyone!  I am getting married at Dreams Riviera on 03.10.12.  I have been working with Yamina and today she told me that no outside vendors are allowed at the resort!  YIKES!  There prices are so high ($120) for a simple centerpiece!  Any suggestions on what to bring and what to rent?  I don't want to lug too much stuff down there... I am already going to have a ton with just our "normal" travel stuff for a 8 days and a wedding!

Thanks!

Ashley

Ashley, did you show Yamina photos of what you want?  I did and I too was floored!!  My bouquet is going to cost $250!!!  In NJ that's probably normal, but Mexico?  Yikes.  Luckily my dad is paying an okay'd it!

I am bringing chair bows because $5 a bow is insane.  I wanted to bring rose petals for the aisle but I don't think they will let you put fake ones on the sand... as far as outside vendors, I heard you just have to pay a fee...

I'm so glad the videos helped!  We filmed them so we could remember but I knew I'd post them here even if my fiance teases me for "blogging" haha.  I don't think it was at capacity, it seemed to have a lot less people than our resort [which is crappy compared to dreams].  A friend of a friend got married at Dreams and said it's a bit more upscale but WORTH every bit of it.

Thank you

Sarah

Im happy to help any possible way I can.  The day from start to finish was long but my reception part went quickly.  Before we knew it, there was an hour left.  Everyone was having so much fun that the time was flying.  Still, I think the length of everything was perfect..By the time we got back to our room, we were pooped!!!! lol.

Thank you about the pictures!!!  We had a blast!!  So I got the ultimate package and just upgraded the cake which for us was an extra $80.  They added a layer to it because I wanted it to look more like a wedding cake rather than one layer...just my preference.  I brought down the ribbons and lettering for the cake and had them put it on for me (no extra cost).

Other additions I had were.....sound technician for ceremony $180 (sooooo worth it!!) full day photography with Anel $999 (sooooooo worth it again!!!)  I wanted a DJ so that was an extra $300 per hour.  We also had to pay for 3 add'l guests because it was over the 20 person in the package.  Oh, and an additional boutinere which cost me $20.   I decided NOT to buy flowers for the girls to save money there I bought down parasols which they LOVED.  (i think they were charging like $90 a bouquet for them)  The parasols cost me like $5 each.....score!!! Also, the ceremonial flowers that were part of the package I had them bring to the reception and use for one of my centerpieces to save money there too.  As for the chair sashes...I used weddinglinensdirect.com (They take up zero space in your luggage and beats paying $5 a sash throught the resort).   hmmmm, i think that's it..

PS....I forgot to mention the SPA treatments we had with the ultimate package- WE LOVED IT!!!!  We both had a couples swedish massage the day before to stay relaxed and OMG...the spa is so nice.  I would definitely recommend a treatment there...or two...or three.....hahahahaa.  My husband and I made another stop there before we left. lol

Hope this helps!  :)

Evelyn,

How long was your reception? I am getting married in November, so I am going to have to do things earlier because the sun sets earlier. My ceremony is booked for 3 PM so that we can get pictures in the daylight afterwards. I've read that the ceremony is about 30 minutes and Ana said the sun sets around 5:30 in November. I dont want my reception to be only from 5-8 PM, that's so early! So I am still on the fence with what I am going to do.

I also have Anel booked and I am super excited to have her. I booked the all day w/ the TTD session but now I'm not so sure I will feel like doing that lol.  I am so happy to hear they let you upgrade your cake! I don't think we will have over 25-30 people, but I still want a wedding cake, not just a 1 layer, so thanks for adding that!

Also, How many people did you have at your wedding?

Thanks again for all your advice it is SO helpful!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
