Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Alaina can correct me if I am wrong but North Beach is right in front of the Presidential Suite.  If the room isn't being used, the bride will come down those steps.  It's a short walk thought....maybe 1 minute until you reach the chairs?

Thank you!

THank youy Alaina for your review and your pictures. Your day looked beautiful! I am also doing tiffany blue and was wondering if there is any decor you have left that you would like to sell? And where did you get your chair sashes and shoes?? They were so cute.

Thanks everyone! I hope the review is helpful, I know it isn't quite as detailed as some of the other girls!

For the walk, I believe Lindsey is correct in saying if the presidential suite is not being used you can walk down those stairs. I saw a bride come down the stairs on the south side of the beach. I would say the walk is probably even shorter than a minute to get to the chairs, it is hard to say. When I was there the north side suite must have been occupied because I didn't use it. I waited by The Grill/Oceana restaurant. It was fun because everyone at the restaurant and people walking by were smiling and saying congratulations :-). Even that was not too long of a walk, it is so hard to say the exact distance though. It probably only took about 30 seconds until everyone could see me.

jkhowell - Thank you for the shoe compliment! I found them off of DSW's online wedding section. They were SO comfortable. Unfortunately I have to hold onto the chair sashes and table overlays until August. When is your wedding? If it happens to be after that let me know! I bought them off of www.weddinglinensdirect.com.

Here's a question for you DRC brides.  I was wondering if anyone has dealt with DRC's florist or used an outside florist.  I found a thread on a Maya Floral Florist and I contacted a guy named Marvin.  I'm trying to find out if this is the florist that the resort uses and I'm thinking it might be cheaper to go directly thru them.  Any input?

Helllo all.  I am new to this site and I find it so very helpful.

I am actually booked for June 24, 2012 and we are having a symbolic ceremony on the beach and reception by the pool deck.   I chose the Ultimate package and I have decided to bring all my decorations including flowers.  I am contemplating the fire dancers.

My TA has a direct contact with the GM and Ana so I had no problems booking. TA is doing all the arrangements directly with Ana so we get a response immediately.

I will be flying from JFK (NY)  have not made my travel arrangements yet since the airfares are not released until mid August.

My fiance and I stayed at this resort in September 2009 and we absolutely LOVED it.  We do a lot of traveling in the Caribbean and by far this resort is in our top 3.  The infinity pool is to die for. The food is delicious and the service is amazing.  The minute we checked in we knew DRC would be the resort for our special day. My colors are fuschia and navy blue and some light pink.  The groomsmen are wearing navy linen pants with a white guayabera (cuban shirts) and pink and navy boutenneire.

I am so excited that my TA is handling all of the communication with Ana/DRC directly cause I honestly don't have the patience to deal with her directly.

If anyone is looking for a GREAT travel agent, please let me know.  She is absolutely fantastic couldn't ask for more.  My one girlfriend used her for her Jamaica wedding (53 guests) and went through without a hitch.  My other friend used her for her Bahamas wedding (45 guests) and no problems.  I love my TA.

Good luck ladies.

Okay ladies, so my wedding is a 381 days away!!!  Yamina sent me all of the catalogs and menus and packages and I am struggling with how to convey to her what we want!  Did anyone just put pictures of colors and inspiration in a word document and send it to their planner?  I'm thinking of doing that....so she really understands the look we want.

Lindsay are you having your reception on the pool deck?  Can you let me know how it is if it is outside? We're afraid it will be humid but our wedding is exactly a year after yours!

Hey Lindsey,

The plan is to have it on the pool deck if the weather allows! We live in Texas so we are definitely used to the heat and humidity. I will definitely let you know how it goes :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
