Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Hey there,

When are you getting married? We are getting married May 18th and we haven't booked room rates yet.  My travel agent wants me to but I want to wait until you can look at the flight info first.  A lot of times you can find a cheaper rate (like on expedia) booking room and flight together and then hopefully the travel agent can match it.  Are you using a travel agent?

Hi Sarah!

Congrats! My wedding is May 19th! So we are weekend twins! cheesy.gif

I have decided to obtain group rates directly from the hotel instead of going through a travel agent. The reason for this is that each guest can book directly through the Dreams website using a group code and avoid going through a third party.

I have spoken to Anabel (after trying to contact Jorge for 2 weeks) and she has stated that the only penalty is that the rooms in the room block that DO NOT get booked by the deadline, which is a month before the wedding, just get released back into the hotel inventory. This way our guest have more than enough time to compare the pricing on the Dreams website with various travel websites before making a final decision.

My Fiance and I are counting down the days to when the flights become available.I believe flights only get posted 330 days before the expected travel date.

Hello-

We are getting married on June 16 2012.  My travel agent has told us prices are not out for other resorts for next year.  Is this true. She was able to come up with some estimates of Dreams.  We really like the Dreams but want to see others to compare.  How did you decide on this resort and if you dont mind sharing what was the quote?  Thank you so much!!!  I just want to make sure my travel agent is on the up and up.

have a great one- this website is awesome and so helpful.

Hi ladies.  I have a question to those who have recently gotten married at DRC.  Can you share some thoughts on times for cocktail and reception.  My ceremony is going to be at 4pm and I'm not sure what times to book for the rest of the evening.

Hi,

My ceremony was at 530pm and our reception was at 7pm and that left a tight time for pictures. We ditched the cocktail hour and just added extra time to the reception on the back end. If you have pics in between and keep the cocktail time, be sure to leave like an hour for pics so you dont have to rush or miss all your cocktail party! Maybe like 4-430pm ceremony, 430pm-530 pictures, 530-630 cocktail party, and 7-10 reception?

that would be my ideal timeline, having gone through it all. :)

hope that helps!

As for the wedding video--

we paid for ours and it was kinda cheesy but nice to have. They ask what music you want and we let them choose because we were not prepared, and the music was pretty cheesy. So have music choices ready.

They only had sound for the ceremony, so our entrance music and exit music was not on the video, which was a little disappointing.

But the camera guy was pretty good at capturing moments and getting our guests all on film, and it was fun to watch. (We just got it last night and watched it together!)

Not sure it was worth the money, but with so many family members unable to attend, it will come in handy. Not sure how to post it for people to watch since it is just a DVD. I will look into that.

If you get it with the Ultimate, it is worth keeping it.

Ammenities:

There were hairdryers and irons.

There were combs and shoe polish and cotton balls and Qtips.

There was a nice shampoo/conditioner and shower gel.

I think a razor and shave gel were in our Honeymoon Suite but can't recall if they were also in our regular room we moved to.

No toothpaste I don't think.

that is all I remember off the top of my head.

:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
