Missy thanks again so much. You've really helped me out! Did you honeymoon at the hotel as well? I've read a lot on trip advisor and a recent reviewer said she felt bad for honeymooners because there are so many children around, it's hard to relax.  I chose this hotel because we do want kids at the wedding, but when everyone leaves I also want us to be able to relax and enjoy ourselves.

I had them set the maracas up at at a table when the guests first got to the reception and so they just found the maraca with their name on it and went to the table that matched their number. I didn't have people seated in certain seats...just specific tables. I aslo brough picture frames with the table numbers on them. Your wedding coordinator should email you a chart of the layout. I printed it out and wrote in the middle of each table how many people would be at that table and what table number it would be. I chose to sit a long table with our bridal party so I wrote down each persons name on that table and had them place there maraca at the table already.

My hair was done by my mother-in-law but my mother and sister had their hair done at the spa and hated it. They both took their hair down and had my cousin re-do it before the wedding. I got my makeup done at the spa and have no complaints. I think it turned out very nice. I believe the girl that did my makeup's name was either Victoria or Veronica...on the downside, she also did my mother's makeup and she felt that she used to much base so she wiped some off.

I wish I could offer more insight to the food but I had one plate and then it rained and they told us they couldn't bring all the food up to the ballroom. So they bought the cake, the deserts and some food to snack on. We chose the Carribean Buffet and from what I did have it was very good. The ribs were delicious and I don't even like ribs. We did the tres leches cake and that was very good also.

No I didn't. We only had full day at the resort after the wedding. The children were never a problem for us but I must say, we are beach people and spent every day at the beach. If your a pool person the kids maybe a problem. I know on our last day there we tried to go lay by the pool for a little while before we left  because I hadn't been in the pool once since we had gotten there and there were no chairs to be had. There's a deck right behind the infinity pool  with alot of chairs so we sat there and I don't recall kids being an issue.

Hi Missy, your pictures are awesome and you looked beautiful.  Looks like you had a wonderful wedding....thanks for sharing!!!  I was wondering who took your pictures?? Was it Anel? I have chosen the Ultimate package and it includes a photo package, but I'd like to upgrade it.

The resort photographers emailed me and told me that they dont do upgrades but I can purchase the packages that they have available.  In the ultimate, it only includes up until the cocktail so I want them to stay through that and the reception.  I dont know which way to go on this?  I feel like I shouldnt have to pay for a whole other package because 50 pics are already included.  They said they'll add the pics to the package I picked.....uhhhhh, so confusing....

Would you mind sharing your tips/suggestions on the photography??  Only 50 days left to gooooo!!!!

Thanks so much!

Evelyn

Hi everyone!

I just booked my fiance and my date at DRC (June 9 2012) and am currently speaking to Ana about outside photographers. I have my heart set on using Elizabeth Median :). Ana seems to never address my question in her emails and im nervous with all of the discussion in this board about DRC not allowing outside photographers. I've been trying to get it in writing that I could have one.

Does anyone know what the DRC policy is on this?? it seems like a lot of people have used outside photographers on this board. Has anyone whose recently had their wedding been able to???

Thanks!

I did have Anel do the photogrpahy. I kind of splurged here because I felt like I have saved so much money in every other department. There's a package for $1000 that will get you full coverage of the entire wedding but I'm not sure how many additional pics come with that one. I went with the one for $1500 that included 200 pictures, a slideshow with music, a photobook that they make for you and a trash the dress wedding shoot (which I never got to do because I was so tired the last day we were there.) I just had them through in an additional photobook instead. This is kind of a "your  preference" situation. I felt like I had saved money every where else so I splurged with the pictures package but you could probably go with the one for $1000 and be fine with that one.

Hey Missy, I'm getting married at another hotel but met Anel while I was at DRC and loved her. I'm going with the bigger package as well. Originally I wasn't going to do the TTD but after I saw Anel's way I loved it. So now we are going to do one. She very is sweet and felt very comfortable with her. Can't wait till our wedding next year :)

@Sharon - I spoke with Lisbeth a couple of days ago for about an hour- Shes really nice!  It was a little hard understanding her but that was OK.  She seems to have it down.  We went over all the basics, also flower selections and things of that nature.

I have 2 questionaires that she emailed me over the past several months and she wants me to fill out both of them and email back.  I thought it was a little strange because they were almost the same exact questions on each, but the one had a little more on it.  I think they need to just choose one so it doesn't confuse both us and them.

She emailed me the pictures of the confirmed flowers that we spoke about so I have that in my file.

Only 5 weeks left!  I'm starting to not stress as much as things are starting to come together!  relief.gif

My shower's next weekend so I'm pretty pumped for that!  woot.gif

Brooke,

You're getting really close, I am very excited for you.  I can't believe how fast time flies.  Ours is in 2 months and 11 days.  I am pretty much almost done with all my planning.  Everything is coming along just great.  I sent my invitations out and most of the stuff I ordered for the wedding has arrived.  I am going back to California end of May to pick up my dress, yay.

Now I need to get a song list together for the DJ, gotta do that soon.

Are you having a symbolic wedding?  Are you having someone you know conduct the ceremony or willl you have their officiant do it?

I was having my girlfriend doing the reading for me but she called me the other day and said that she might not be able to make it b/c her newborn is so young.  Now I am totally bummed.msncry.gif

Are you getting any wedding jitters since your wedding is only 5 weeks away?  I am trying hard to diet and lose some of that extra weight, so hard.

We are getting married in pittsburgh june 10 in front of a judge who is a family friend. We got most of our playlist of songs together last weekend-we opted for the tech only, it eas so much fun putting the songs together! I telly dont have wedding jitters as mike and I have been together for 13 years ( I think if I did there would be a problem lol) . I am mostly nervous about evrrything coming together as planned! We have 34 people confirmed 2 STILL need to book their flights! How many are you having?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
