Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I was wondering this today too.  i have to set up my appointments...I leave a week from tomorrow!   I was going to email the spa directly but maybe i will just email Ana to ask if she can set them up.  I was going to schedule for my bridesmaids too.

My ceremony is at 5 and I was thinking 1pm for hair, then I will be having my makeup done but not by the Dreams Salon.

Do you think 1pm is too early?  I figured it would give me time in case I hate it and I will also have some time to relax after im all dressed.  I just dont want to be sitting around for over an hour waiting.....

Also gives us time to relax and have some champagne with the bridesmaid:)

Dreams actually has their own honeymoon registry too. Here's the link: http://dreams.honeymoonwishes.com/.

We're thinking of doing the Dreams Registry and maybe a small registry at Bed Bath & Beyond, for those who don't want to do the online thing. My fiance and I are on the same boat too- bought a house last year-and really don't need more bath towels and coffee mugs : )

I also figured it couldn't hurt to have a little birdie drop hints on the family (the little bird being my FMIL, lol) that perhaps cash would be the most useful gift, since we're paying for the entire thing ourselves and already live together.

Even though its a dw and def way cheaper than a traditional wedding, costs are still adding up and a litte extra help in that dept would be wonderful!

We would LOVE if we can do a registry to where it pretty much just pays for our honeymoon (i.e. the hotel and excursions). Has anyone done this before and/or know a website or something that we could do something like that on??

Veronica told me a minimum of 3 hours before your ceremony (we're at 4 pm and she booked us for 12).  She books the brides and sent me the spa link to request the flower girls, junior bridesmaids and bridesmaids which I did but never heard back from the spa. anyway i told her, she contacted them and they immediately sent me confirmation of the times, number of girls and just asked for their names :-)

As for prepaying, we were given the option of credit card, USD draft or wire which we opted for because its interest-free and its nice to know that all the financial mumbo-jumbo is taken care of. once we land we finalize the final details and RELAX :-)but yes we send it directly to the resort management company. She emailed me all the wire information requirements :-)

We were in the same boat.  Already the the house with all the fixings, so when they threw my bridal shower they did a money tree. The guests were all thrilled b/c it took the guessing out of what to get us since we definitely weren't the traditional newly weds needing any of the usual things.

Veronica said if we use Visual Sound then she will throw in the light up dance floor for free.  They are definitely pushing Visual Sound hard.

Anywhoo I decided to go with Avi and Edgar gave me Rodrigo's email.  Rodrigo is the wedding director and can be your MC too if you request him ahead of time.  I spoke to Rodrigo and he guaranteed that the Music and Reception will be above and beyond my expectations. It definitely made me feel more at ease now that I've spoke to someone at Avi.  Rodrigo's english is wonderful and he said that my DJ's name is Raymundo.  He asked I send him a music list of what I like and don't like.  He also said we will meet a few days before our wedding and go over the flow of the wedding.

Because we are not using Visual Sound it will cost $600 for the dance floor.  I am getting the lights under the table was wondering if I should cancel the lights and get the dance floor instead.

I just heard from Rodrigo as well (via email).  I'm glad to hear you were put at ease.  What does it mean to have Rodrigo MC vs. DJ?  What role would he play?

I'm still a little bit raging about the whole DJ thing.  I suppose there is no point to complaining when the wedding is getting close and there really isn't anything we can do about all of this.

I did write a strongly worded email that went something like this:

What the flip Dreams?  This is the second DJ that's been swiped from me.  I get that Dreams has policies, but it's really not fair to pull the rug out from brides weeks before their wedding.  Wouldn't the right thing to do be let brides keep their plans with DJ, and then be sure not to schedule with that DJ in the future?  I'm having a hard time making any decisions with Dreams knowing you won't keep your word or have any remose about it either.

The response from my wedding coordinator went something like this:

It will be ok.

sigh.  I'll move on now.

Hello Justney,

Just like you I am upset about the whole DJ thing too but I feel like there's nothing we can do.  Regardless of what, we are still doing our wedding in Mexico, it's not the US where we value customer service and we honor our words.

Rodrigo is not the DJ, he is only the wedding director.  The DJ is going to be Raymundo.  Rodrigo said he can be there at the wedding to announce the wedding party and etc because he wants to make sure that our wedding will go right.

I am going to try to work on a list and email them soon so there will be no hickups.  Edgar also told me that they don't provide any wedding favors so I went ahead and ordered my own wedding favors on www.amols.com

I ordered a masks, beads, and neon necklaces and some LED rings.  It's pretty cheap on this website, you should check it out.

It does suck that the resort does not feel any kind of remorse for what they've done.  They are booting all the DJ's out b/c General Manager of Dreams owns Visual Sound, pathetic isn't it.

Gotta think Positive:)

Hi Ladies,  I need some help...I know i remeber reading in a couple of the most recent reviews that DRC now rents for the reception those hanging lantern lights that alot of people were renting from DecoCancun.  and I also rember the price being somethign like $10 each.  so i emailed Ana yesterday saying i want to use those for my reception.

Her answer:

The rent of this kind of lights is $60usd each tower

Really???  $60   Each that's ridiculous.  since I KNOW I read $10 somewhere.  Am I remembering my info wrong?  Does anyone rember who's review it was that mentioned they rented these from Dreams?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
