Thanks for this info i've also been trying to book a dj for our wedding at the end of may and veronica the coordinator at the resort is being a pain! she is making me resend all the details of everything, like our names guest list how many rooms, dinner menu ect that we sent last month.. im guessing maybe she deleted the email by accident but this is what she said about DJ Molina.

"I also wanted to let you know we would like to book DJ Molina for our reception. I've heard very good reviews about him from other brides who've been married at the resort recently. Let me inform you that he did a couple of weddings at the resort in the past, however he is not an authorized proveyor by the Resort, therefore he is not available. We have Dj Visual Sound doing the weddings.

Who is DJ Visual Sound? anyone know? I'm going to try to get DJ Julian with what you suggested! Any other pointers would be great!

Anywhoo, DJ Julian is not approved with the resort so you will have to ask the coordinator to us Avi Productions which is DJ Edgar.  Once the coordinator is ok then you can email Avi productions and request DJ Julian to be your DJ.  He is sub contracting through Avi so the coordinator does not know about this.

Here is Avi DJ Edgar's email

[email protected]

Hope that clarifies it

I am so pissed.  I think the resort must be following this thread or else how would they know that DJ Julian was sub-contracting through Avi productions.  I was soooo happy that we were able to work out this DJ issue and now this.  I feel like the resort is doing everything in their power to control the whole music part.  I  don't even know what to do at this point, I am sooooo upset.

Ugh...I agree about this whole DJ situation. How frustrating! I really feel for you brides whose weddings are around the corner- I thought having a DW was supposed to be more stress free, but I guess not...I don't understand why the resort is making everything so difficult! My wedding is still about 7 months away so I have some time, but I really wanted to book this and be done with it.

I guess this is why Ana keeps avoiding my questions and repeatedly sending me Visual Sounds info...

Hello! My fiance went back and forth with this for a while. We finally decided to just let everyone book on their own- we're not using a TA. We didn't want to do that, but we felt like it would be a huge headache for us (and added stress) if we did room blocks. I contacted several TAs, and all the rates we got were more $$ than online prices. I asked if they would match online prices and most said no, because it was already a special rate.

The big thing for us was that we HAD to block a minimum of 10 rooms (at least that's what they told us), which we would have put down a $100 deposit on (so $1000). If we couldn't fill all 10 rooms then we'd lose our deposit for those unfilled rooms. Since we're having a smaller wedding, I didn't want the pressure of making people book through the TA, when they could just book on their own for way cheaper (the package deals were usually cheaper too, air + hotel). Idk, I just pictured us having like 5 rooms booked and then almost "begging" people to book through the agent so we wouldn't lose $.

We ended up booking OUR trip right when the air rates came out as packages (about 11 months out) and it ended up being about $800 cheaper than what we were quoted.

I will say, there are many benefits to having a TA and blocking rooms (like not having to pay in full right away), but it just didn't work out for us.  Anyway, good luck and congratulations!!

Right now we are in the process of negotiating a group booking rate and i wanted to know if anyone else went through this route. Currently the group rate we are being quoted is almost double the best rate online. Has anyone else had this problem?!?! I dont see the point in booking as a group if  they wont lower the prices to the current best rate!

Thanks for the help everyone!

I would go with a Travel Agent. I'm working with one and even if they have a special later in the year, nothing would keep you from taking advantage of that as well as one that is happening now, you can negotiate EVERYTHING!!!! I'm May 12, 2012.  Call these folks, this is who I went through, my wedding is SOOOO afforable by going with these guys and they work with Dreams and Karisma in particular.  Ask for Lauren or Peter.  I'm Courtney, they know who I am, you can tell them I sent you if you call them up.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
