Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Does anyone know if they have bottled water at the resort and if so the size of the bottles?  Reason being, for our guest bags we want to put a bottle of water w/ a customized label for our wedding on them... but i really dont want to have to bring down water with us. And im not sure what size of label to make. So if anyone has been to the resort that would be great!!

Does anyone that has been to Dreams Riviera Cancun know if you can bring your own cup down to the bars?  With all the talk on Trip Advisor about the dirty bar glasses and the dirty water they are washed in, I was thinking of maybe getting customized cups for our guests to bring down to the bar with them? Just an idea, but I guess those cups would need to be washed out each time too. I have a while to go, I would just feel awful if my guests were to get sick!

Yeah I just don't know how much material to buy or whether to just buy a roll of fabric and cut it there...Since we are only having 12 guests I don't need very much..i guess i could buy the longer length and then trim them if needed :) The little details are the hardest :) Thanks for your advice!!

I was wondering the same thing..it will be much easier to travel with paper labels than water bottles :)

I would talk to your doctor and have your guests do the same and bring Cipro in case you get sick because this is the treatment for traveler's diarrhea...

Yeah I finally made it to Michaels, so many stuff, it's like a bridal candy store lol.

Anywhoo, DJ Julian is not approved with the resort so you will have to ask the coordinator to us Avi Productions which is DJ Edgar.  Once the coordinator is ok then you can email Avi productions and request DJ Julian to be your DJ.  He is sub contracting through Avi so the coordinator does not know about this.

Here is Avi DJ Edgar's email

Edgar.cardosa@avispl.com

Hope that clarifies it

Thanks for replying about the starfish/raffia. You finally made it to Michaels, lol! I'll probably make some of these for the aisle chairs...

As far as DJ Molina, I'm still trying to book him through Ana. I know you and Lindsay said you had no problems booking him, but of course they have different rules for EVERYONE...I just got an email from her saying this:

" About DJ Molina we need to verify the contract that he has with the resort but we have an excellent DJ his name is Mauricio Neri and you can contact him at visualsound2010@hotmail.com"

Really?? If I wanted DJ Neri, I would have asked for him. In my original email, I told her I wanted to book Julian asap so he doesnt book someone else, and that's what I got back...Ugh...sending her an yet another email now.

Did you guys have to fight to get him or where you just able to book?

Thank you and I love the To Have and to Hold and keep your beer cold, how cute is that.

we got the "To Have & To Hold, To Keep Your Beer Cold" ones.  And the "In Sickness & In Health" seals for In Case Bags in the OOT bags :-)

I too am very concerned about the reviews but it seems to have occurred over the March break when the resort was running at full capacity.  Your bound to run into cases of that on occassion when food is mass produced but LAWD please let it have run its course before we leave in 3 weeks. I would feel awful if my guests got it :-(

Hi everyone!! I've been lurking on this board for a few months now, my fiance and I are currently planning a June 2012 wedding at dreams riviera. Right now we are in the process of negotiating a group booking rate and i wanted to know if anyone else went through this route. Currently the group rate we are being quoted is almost double the best rate online. Has anyone else had this problem?!?! I dont see the point in booking as a group if  they wont lower the prices to the current best rate!

Thanks for the help everyone!

I would definitely wait it out. I know we couldn't even get May 2011 rates last year until the end of May 2010.  Initially,  the quotes we got were nuts but by the time we booked back in September, they were pretty decent.  I was anxious to get everyone booked too - its exciting.  But with so much time to play with, use it to your advantage and get the best rate by holding out a while yet.:-)

I would wait it out also.  It seems like around December there's always some kind of specials going on.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
