Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Has anyone else read recent reviews on trip advisor/fbook? We live in 3 weeks for our may 10th wedding and this stomach virus going around at the resort is freaking me out! It's been going on for months. I could handle getting sick...but I'd feel horrible if my guests got sick!
I am definitely concerned about this as well...I've been reading as well and it doesn't seem to be getting better...I'm just really hopeful that our parties will be the lucky ones that will be careful and not affected by whatever illness is going on there. Not sure of my 90 year old Granny will be able to handle any type of crazy Norovirus or food issue? Not much we can do about it now other then keep our guests off tripadvisor! Fingers crossed....I'm totally nervous about it though....

Lily,

I love this setup too.  I would like the resort to setup our sashes to look like this.

I am not sure what the dimensions you need for the sash but I bought the longest ones I can get just in case.  I believe mine are like 208' or something in that range.

I do agree with you on the FAQ b/c I'm pretty sure most of the questions we ask them are redundant and they are probably annoyed lol.

I'm starting to realize that the easiest way to figure some stuff out is just to try it myself, lol (if I can). If I go this route, I'll just buy a little fabric, try it on one of my chairs, and figure out the length from there.

You would think the resort (and all resorts) would set up a FAQ brochure for brides or designate someone to answer all of our questions besides the WC, they're too busy)...they're such trivial things, but honestly, a girl needs to know! How else can we plan/know what we need to buy?!  What are the dimensions of the chuppah? How tall is the gazebo? What type of chairs are included? How size table linens do I need...Why wouldn't the WC's save themselves the aggravation and have our answers in one place! Ok, I'm totally venting, I think I'm done now smile41.gif

I am getting 25 of those lanterns.  They will illunimate the deck and also gives you a romantic flair; I think it's worth it.

Lily,

The resort does not provide this.  You will have to purchase the starfish and sash yourself. I saw the big starfish at Michael's the other day for $4 a piece.  I think you can also order it online as well.

kustomkoozies.com :-)

we got the "To Have & To Hold, To Keep Your Beer Cold" ones.  And the "In Sickness & In Health" seals for In Case Bags in the OOT bags :-)

I too am very concerned about the reviews but it seems to have occurred over the March break when the resort was running at full capacity.  Your bound to run into cases of that on occassion when food is mass produced but LAWD please let it have run its course before we leave in 3 weeks. I would feel awful if my guests got it :-(

Hi Sharon!

Thanks for replying about the starfish/raffia. You finally made it to Michaels, lol! I'll probably make some of these for the aisle chairs...

As far as DJ Molina, I'm still trying to book him through Ana. I know you and Lindsay said you had no problems booking him, but of course they have different rules for EVERYONE...I just got an email from her saying this:

" About DJ Molina we need to verify the contract that he has with the resort but we have an excellent DJ his name is Mauricio Neri and you can contact him at visualsound2010@hotmail.com"

Really?? If I wanted DJ Neri, I would have asked for him. In my original email, I told her I wanted to book Julian asap so he doesnt book someone else, and that's what I got back...Ugh...sending her an yet another email now.

Did you guys have to fight to get him or where you just able to book?

Yes I will be using DJ Molina, I've read many wonderful reviews about him on this thread.  I need to give him a list of songs which I haven't been able to compile just yet.

I am thinking about getting the light up dance floor but not quite sure yet, are you going to get the light up dance floor?

As far as photography, I will be using Anel from Adventura and I am also flying a friend in from New York.  He took pictures at my sister's wedding and it was beautiful and very artsy.

:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
