Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Just an FYI for anyone who may be getting married in/around December like we are...when we booked our date, Ana told me our ceremony had to be @ 2pm (another wedding was already scheduled later).

At first, I was really bummed because I wanted a later start time, but now I realize that maybe 2pm isn't that bad at all, since the sun sets @ 5. I feel much better now since I just came across this on Octavio Montes's website (photographer) under FAQs:

Q- I am not sure what time to tell the resort i want the wedding. what is a good time for ceremony in december? i want to have nice lighting for my pictures

A- Then The ceremony must be at 2:00 pm so we can have the couple session at 3:00 pm because the light start losing at 4:30 pm.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share in case that was useful to anyone. I definitely recommend (as many others have) checking the sunset times for the month you're getting married in, since it can make a huge difference in photography...

Hi Aimeelaco-  We're arriving at the resort the day after your wedding on the 24th and are getting married on the 29th.  We have the same time down 4pm! I wanted it later as well and when my travel agent asked ( i asked again just to make sure) the resort said we couldn't do it later.  I'm not sure why. But I figure we can go back out and take more pictures if we want closer to sunset.  Where are you having your reception at? How many ppl are you having attend?

JD Hall-

Where did you find your bags your giving to the guests? Were they crazy expensive? We have about 40 guests so i'm trying to keep the bags kinda cheap bc we've gotten so much stuff to put in them.  I found some bright colored ones by two's company a while ago and cant find them now! Bummed and looking for replacements.

Oh yay! You can come check out my wedding :) I haven't done much besides putting a deposit on the resort.  I figure that I have over a year to figure that out so I will probably wait a little bit to decide on those things.

I'm thinking maybe a 5pm wedding is better as well. It seems as though its what most brides are scheduling

Looks like we might see each other! We arrive the day you get married aww!

If you don't mind me asking, how far a long are you with your wedding planning? Have you booked any vendors, photographers etc??

They only gave me 2 options, 4 or 5.  I'm not sure why that is but I'm sure there is some reason for that.

Did they have anything around 6?  My TA told us for our May 12, 2012 wedding, sunset will be around 6 pm, that coupled with a 20 min ceremony that we should be able to get fantastic pictures. I think the weather channel has an app that will tell you the approx. sunset time.

Great comments regarding picking start time for ceremony.....

For any brides that got married in April, how was the temperature once the sun went down? Was it chilly?

We have picked a time of 4pm on a Friday evening in late April 2012 and just trying to make sure that this works to get good pictures but at same time, if reception doesn't start until 7 (this is around time that it seems that sun will be setting), we also wanted to make sure that it didn't really start to get too chilly since hoping to have reception on the pool deck.

Any advice?

Hi Allegra,

Would you mind sending me Anel's email address?  I've contacted Ana about requesting her but haven't heard back yet.  My wedding is this June so I'd really love to contact her.

Thanks,

Ev :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
