Does anyone know if we are to tip the Officiant? Also, are they just there for the ceremony or do they come to the reception to eat?   

 

-  I did see that people were sick there a couple weeks ago but I bet it was a bad batch of something.  Don't worry!  Also - bug repellent is a MUST down there - you will be eaten alive at sunset if you don't have it on so spray it under your wedding dress! lol

 

- There is going to be an "international" fee if you use your credit card, or debit card.  I hear the credit card has a better rate than the bank though. 

 

I got a quote from Lisbeth that the Lanteens are 10.00 + 11% each.... I see on here one of the girls said she got them for 7.00 each and they threw in an extra one.  I am going to wait to get down there to add any "accessories" because Im thinking we can wheel and deal better. 

 

 

Great idea to hand out the OOT bags at the welcome party - I am bringing just the bags down and then we are going to town and buying fun stuff down there to put in the bags!

hi ladies!  I leave in just 5 more weeks!  I cant believe it so close now! 

 

Brides getting married soon and past brides who are having/had a legal ceremony....how was the ceremony?  is there something specific they have that someone could post or forward to me, ulochiel@gmail.com.  Are we allowed to add to the ceremony. 

 

and I see alot of people do the sand ceremony but I hadn't planned on doing this, will my ceremony be too short if i dont add this in??

Unfortunately I didn't get her name, sorry.  But I don't think there are many officiants so hopefully she is not too hard to track down.

Sorry I didn't get her name...but I just posted that I don't think they had many officiants, so she shouldn't be hard to find.

It's official May 23rd 2012!! So excited!!

For all the May brides out there when is the best time for a sunset ceremony?

My travel agent put down 4pm, but I read online sunset in May is around 7pm?? I know there's talk of this in previous posts but of course now I can't find them

I'm thinking more 5 or 5:30?? I'd love to hear your feedback.

Also this may be a silly idea, but for anyone making OOT bags.

I read on a different post of some brides making their own mexican recipe books and thought it was a good idea.

Hi aimeelaco, Congratulations!  I'm getting married on May 7th and I had initially choose 5:30 for the ceremony because i wanted that sunset lighting for my picture but i had to move it up a half hour to 5pm because i want a 4 hour reception and i was told the reception has to end by 11 (quiet time at the resort).  So, ceremony @ 5pm then cocktail hour at 6 and reception starting at 7.

HI ladies - just got finished reading some of those negative reviews for that last week in March - and am a bit discouraged about using this resort for my wedding.
Not so much for the food - I have a feeling that was just due to a  bad batch of something. But some of the other complains with regards to the no door on the bathrooms as well as the massive battle for chairs at the pool/beach. I will probably be having some couples coming with younger children and the bathroom situation is kind of concerning. Even if there weren't children - I still find it odd that there's no door on the bathroom  - or maybe i read this wrong? Maybe its not with all the suites?
The towel game seems to be very discouraging also - apparently if you're not there at 5/6am to put your town down you're SOL!
There's been comments about very little entertainment in the evenings too.  
Also - apparently the ceilings/floors are very thin and there's been complaints of excessive noise when someone moves a chair.
I know these concerns are non-wedding related - but I want my guests to be comfortable and happy at the resort. Picking this resort is mostly for our benefit wedding-wise

but i also want to pick a resort that all my guests should be happy at too. We're really not those snoooty traveler types that expect everything to be perfect.But I'm sure you all know the stress of picking a resort just for you and your hunny is a lot different than picking a resort for 20+ of your closest family and friends.

Any who can offer some input would be great!
