Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Hairdos:

I had the same problem choosing between the 2 resorts. I choose DRC because it was newer and I am getting married at the end of February and I didnt want to run into the "spring breakers". If you have more of a younger crowd cancun might be good, but I really like how new DRC was. Also, DRC has more restaurants which was a plus for me.

Just my thought.

Last April, I was in Mexico with my FH and my whole family.  We stayed at DRC but we rented a car and drove to some other resorts to check them out.  My TA also was pushing Azul Sensatori... so we went to check it out (also saw Grand Palladium and the Riu Palace).  It honestly gave us the feeling that by the time our wedding rolled around this year, it would be shut down. The place was DEAD.  I'll admit, it's not exactly high season, but it was a gorgeous day and there was NO one in the pool, 3 of the elevators weren't working, the water in the spa wasn't working (like, from the taps and toilet), it was overrun with Mosquitos (while at DRC the same day, we had NONE) and the beach was very narrow - I'm not even certain we could have fit 30 people on the beach for the ceremony.  This all being said, the rooms are beautiful and resort is very pretty, there were just a few too many red-flags for us.  I wonder if they're giving TAs some sort of huge incentive to book people there?

As for Azul Beach, I have heard it's gorgeous!  It's very small and we were worried a lot of our friends would try to book last minute and the resort would be full (that's just our friends - they procrastinate for everything!).  But apparently it is stunning.

I'm set to get married next May 2012 and have been stuck on which resort to choose. My travel agent seems to know a lot about whichever we want but doesn't have a lot of advice to help us make a decision. We have narrowed it down to Azul Beach and Dreams Riviera but can't decide which one should be THE ONE. Can someone please point me in the right direction? She was really trying to sell us on Azul Sensotori and initially when we contacted her, that's where we were thinking until some relatives dropped other names of other resorts, that's when it got complicated.  Thank you! How I'm feeling trying to figure this out --->hissyfit.gif

I have asked around and have heard back from those of you who had 4 hour reception and have gotten some really good feedback :)

Are any of you planning for 3 hour reception?

Have any of you already had one? If so, did you go to the "club" afterwards? Do you wish you would have added the extra hour?

Does anyone know if you can add the extra hour the day of? or must it

My question is, is the 4th hour worth it?

We aren't getting married until June 2012 lol.. im on here kinda early just to see what everyone says.. We are going there to check it out june 1st-5th 2011.. too bad its not your wedding that week I could have checked it out.. I dont have time to go and check out every resort I am interested in so I was having a hard time booking the trip at DRC since im praying when i get there ill love it enough to book my wedding for next year. . . . this thread made me finally settle on it as the hotel ill hopefully book for the wedding lol June 18th is coming close..... you must be very excited. How long in advance did u send your invitations? Also if i book it this June i plan on sending Save The Dates as soon as I get back.... is it wrong to ask people to let me know if they are 100% not coming before i send them an invitation and itinerary? -be honest! lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
