Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

I had mine yesterday and the bottom line was that DJ Dooremix  isn't even an option.  My WC said that he didn't  agree to the terms set by the resort and until he does, he is not an option as an outside vendor ... PERIOD :-s  She went onto say that the DJ Mauricio (sp?) offers all the same services cold fire works, light up dance floor at the exact same price. She also said that he would take any special requests i.e. ballons, props masks that were being offered by the old DJ (Dooremix).  One thing that did strike me though is that she said the light up dance floor belongs to the resort and always has.  She referred me to the pricing guide which can be found online where there is (and always has been) a price listing for the light up dance floor under all the extra wedding fees in the DRC brochure.  At this point, I feel like I've exhausted every avenue to re-secure Ivan so the resort DJ is who we're going to go with my looks of things.  With the wedding less than 3 months away now, I can't risk having no DJ at all because we wait any longer :-s So basically we're paying no more or less, but PRAYING that this resort DJ can rock out the reception without the reviews, reputation or experience preceding him that Ivan had. Ugggh ... is it happy hour yet?? I'm in need of a cocktail LoL

From what I understand his pricing is $300/hr but I'm waiting to find out if that includes the dance floor. I'll keep you all posted.

(They paid for the pick up & offered to ship the correct color. But I opted for a refund.) I decided I didn't want to deal with the cost to ship the maracas to Mexico & chance them getting caught up in customs.  Packing them in a suitcase would not be good (I ordered 50) because they were quite heavy & I need the suitcase room for OOT bags! Soooo...Mishka is the one. She's wonderful to work with & I think her pricing is good considering they are customized! She ships them straight to the resort for you. I cannot wait to see MINE :) Hope this helps!

If you all can have some patience, we are getting married on Feb 20th and are using the new house DJ, Mauricio Neri.  We are also getting the light up dance floor for 30 people and will be able to provide a review of the size.

Also, I was complaining last week about the complete lack of communication.  Well, in the days following, I probably exchanged 5 e-mails with Ana and she even instigated a conference call.  It seems like every other review is correct and they pull it all together towards the end.

We are using CANCUN TRANSPORTATION SERVICES.  I received quotes from 3 different vendors and they had the best pricing.  Actually, they originally had the best airport transfers but were a little more expensive on a couple other excursions I wanted, so I negotiated with them and they brought their prices down.  The contact person was Patricia rodriguez at cts1179@yahoo.com.mx

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
