Lindsay,

I didnt know they actually used it.. I was just ranting because I was so mad about the communication!!  That was about the only time I was able to relax on the beach before the wedding.  I can send you all my planning sheets..  I dont have an excel for the breakdown because after the wedding they just give you receipts for each breakdown...  we matched it to the breakdown we had for what it would cost,....

I have to check bookit.com out!  Thanks again for the kind words.  I was a crazy bride- lol  but my wedding was so great!!!    anything u need let me know. I am happy to help. I know how stressful it is planning!!

Hey Janine! Did you know that you are on the marketing video for DRC on bookit.com? I watched it the other day as I sent a few guests there to book (prices are very good on that site BTW, even for Canadians) and I totally recognized you on the video being interviewed (after seeing your wedding pics, you are hard to forget cause you're GORGEOUS! LOL) so I thought I would mention it...thanks for all the helpful planning info and the suggestions on deco cancun and stuff. Did you say you had a excel sheet that you used to track everything? I would LOVE if you could email that to me at lindsayspencer@live.ca. You had an AMAZING wedding...so organized and truly perfect down to the last detail...well done! Hope you are enjoying your newlywed days :-)

Anyway, do you have a contract with Dreams yet?  If not contact a TA to see what you can get by booking more rooms. At that time we were able to get every 6th room free!  So we ended up having some credits....which was nice....  Reserve the MasterSuite and then I think its 30 days before travel final payment will be due ( everyone else will pay as well)  this is when your TA will help you!!!!  I think the room was 1502!  I would have to check for  you to make sure!  But you have to email a million time, because they still put us in the wrong room....we had to transfer....

As for favors for guys: we didnt give them any extra ( we gave them extra stuff in welcome bags: ie flip flops) we were going to do the cigars but I spent so much on the welcome bags we didnt.  I also had candles that I made fpr each table, so guests could use them while on vacation.  (they had our monogram on them!~  (added to the tables too!)

Some guests will use the travel agent and some will book sep.  I think most used the travel agent for round trip transfers.. which was good because then you have all the information (times flights for each guest)

As for welcome bags:  I seperated each group of bags by dates of arrival and had travel info and left welcome bags daily....pinkie.gif Mrs. B

So the trick is to reserve the Mastersuite..GOT IT!!  Good to know - I would have been SO mad if we weren't able to get it.  Just form all the brides talking about the mix ups..them promising things they aren't delivering I didn't want to screwed!!

They deducted it after?  How did you do that??

Pashmina's is a GREAT idea for favors for the ladies..what about the men?  We were thinking cigars..

I know you've told me before..but what was your room number - I think I'll request it!!  Did you request it to your WC?

Can you tell me how you planned your trip?  Did you work with a local TA?  Did you do a package deal flight/resort or did your guests find their own air?

Thanks again - sorry so many questions!   You've been a WONDERFUL help!!  smile03.gif

If you're having your reception on the pool deck they won't stay lit, it's rather windy (which is kind of nice because it keeps things cool!)

I was going to pay for the under the table lights to help with the light but they "couldn't get them" but I did bring down white floralytes (there are other colors as well) and put them in my centerpieces.. just an idea as a possible alternative to candles. Here's what it looked like

And looking at this I just realized I probably should have unfolded my overlays and let the creases fall out before the wedding ;) Oh well!

dont bring candles if you want them lit. unless they are led or are deep they will not stay lit. I brought the little candles as favors for my guests to take back to their room and they did decorate the table because we added our monogram and a ribbon trim to each...

good luck!!  congrats!!

Carbaholic, I was curious about this too. Does anyone know if they're still using Deco Cancun-or who they're using now? I think the $500 outside vendor fee is ridiculous... maybe $100 but $500? That's crazy! When Ana sent me a list of approved vendors, under furniture and decor it says "pending"...I really hope they don't get rid of them too.

As far as the approved DJ, has anyone found anything out about him? I tried searching his name (which they told me is Mauricio Neri) and company (Visual Sound) but I didn't come up with anything. The fact that he doesn't have a website makes me nervous...I hope the people at the resort know what they're doing

Aww Allegra - cute photos!!!

I saw you taking photos on the stairs leading up to the lobby prior to your wedding, and I was actually by the pool watching your ceremony (from a non-creeper distance, of course!)... everyone in my group thought it was awesome how your groomsmen were introduced!

Congrats :)

Thanks Angela!  I can't believe I missed your pool-jumping experience - nice job:-) I must have been meeting with Ana or something.  Congrats to you as well. I can't believe how much stuff you brought down with you (I saw it all in Ana's office). I heard several of your guests talking about how great your wedding was at breakfast in the World Cafe the morning after - hope you had a blast.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
