Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I would agree that March is getting a bit pricey because of Spring Break...especially college.

This forum is the BEST THING EVER!!  Just wait until you start exploring and find all the amazing DIY idea's and template's and pictures.  It's the best site for us..just wonderful!  :)

I have researched a LOT of resorts..and also have visited a few.  The Dreams packages are amazing - and the service is unreal.  We just visited DRC and it is by far outstanding!!

I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea weather-wise in March? I was looking to get March 10, 2012 --- waiting to get a response as far as booking. Does anybody know also if that is considered a low or high season?

Thanks! This forum definitely got me excited to start planning!

BOOK NOW!!!  I doubt they will go down...they just announced oil is going up again - which for us means higher airfare!!

I'm flying out of Philly and before the holidays the airfare was around $550 and I thought that was too much for a flight to Mexico and I figured the prices would drop.  Well, the prices are now up to $606 for a direct flight.

Should I wait to see if they drop or just get the tickets now?

They are..but as stated before..only for 20.  If you forgo the Cocktail Hour they will give you more dinner's - it won't be 20..but even if it's 10..that is less you have to pay for.  The way I am reading their "Customized Wedding Services" it shows the extra dinner charge for Silver or Gold $48/person and states underneath it that it includes 3 hours of bar..Platinum is $55/person...so - I'm thinking if you buy extra dinners it includes three hours of bar for that person..??

Additional Bar is $15/person.  I'm reading it like...if you decided to add an hour to your reception - 4 hours total - then you just pay the bar cost..$15/person.

Not sure I'm reading it correctly though...

Check my post above - I explain how I've read their price sheet.  Not sure if I'm reading it correctly...

Maybe past brides can help???

How many hours have past brides done for their reception??  We were thinking four then head over to Desires...??

Maybe some past brides can give us some insight??  I'm guessing we will have waiters assigned to our parties asking what drinks guests want..I'm sure it will be fine!!

Cant we just walk into the bar in the hotel and get a drink anyway? (my FI's question)

Can anyone tell me the vendor policy at DRC? I'm wondering about the photographer and DJ. I know the resort only works with certain ones...do you contact these vendors directly or does the WC do that?  What if you choose someone that the resort doesn't work with-can you bring in outside vendors (and how much does the resort charge)? I don't want to wait too long before choosing.

I'm totally confused! Any advice would be helpful. I'm getting married this December and it might be Dec before the coordinator replies back! lol

Oh and also, do you pay them directly or throught the resort?

Thanks!

PAST BRIDES....my colors are turquoise and orange. I am torn about chair sashes! I kind of want turquoise ones...are the chairs too plain with just the white covers? And..does anyone how much the resort charges for the chair sashes? I realize we can get them cheap online, but I am trying to minimize suitcases. With all the OOT bags and such....I feel like I have everything except the kitchen sink!

Oh my gosh we'll definitely see your wedding then! Were you able to book  the date yet? I'm still waiting on a response from a coordinator... Can you let me know if your TA gives you a good rate, if you don't mind.

I am totally obsessing over all the DIY projects, I haven't even booked my date yet! And thanks for the reassurance, I couldn't believe how much information I had to compare with just to find one I was comfortable with... I hope I get my response from the resort soon!

Hi!  If you look in their "Customized Wedding Service" menu under Decorations they have chair bows for $5.  I guess it depends on how many guests you have...if you have 50 that's $250 in chair bows...

Check out this website..

http://www.linentablecloth.com/

I know you don't want to pack more but I can't imagine it would take up too much room - they have chair sashes from $5.99 - $7.00 for 10!!!  You could get 50 for $32!!!  This site is wonderful..they also have table runners and overlays..napkins - just about anything!  ;)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
