Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I'm super excited about it..I've seen it all over magazines & it's MUCH MUCH cheaper than doing flower bouquets for each bridesmaid - I actually think it looks more "destination wedding"..I love it!!

Check out

http://www.lunabazaar.com/

..they are as inexpensive as $7.95/parasol!  They actually have a LOT to offer if you are planning on DIY'ing any of your decorations!

Also check out

http://www.pamelasparasols.com/

...they have much more to offer, and look "fancier" but for a much higher price!

Brides whom have already booked or are in the process of booking - I need some help!

We just picked DRC as our Resort...we are going to be looking at prices for late January/early February 2012...can you tell me how you did your packages?

Did you put packages together..flight/resort - all in one?

Did you work with a Travel Agent near your home?

Did you do the packages just dealing with your WC?

Did you have your guests book the resort and then have them book their flights on their own?

What kind of prices are your guests booking at?  We will be flying out of Michigan...

As of right now we are thinking of using a TA from home..and booking flight/resort together to get a better deal..a n d...booking as a "group" at the resort to get their discounts.  We would like to offer our guests a 5 and 7 day option...

Please help..any information you are willing to share would be WONDERFUL!!

So I'm working with destinationweddings.com. They are free (well you pay $50 upfront, but then it goes towards your payment) and the agent has been awesome. You set up a little personal site on their site and your guests can just log in and check out everything. They connect with the agent directly and she gives them quotes. You can either book the whole thing flight, resort and round-trip transportation from airport up front or you can book just your resort stay and round-trip transport. and then book the flight later. They also offer some group deals where you can get money back after a certain amount of guests book and room upgrades. So that's what I've done :)

I'm using destinationweddings.com as well. My Wedding Planner is Joan Twohie...she's been great and they are very competitve when it comes to finding travel packages.  I have people coming from all over Canada and she's been great at finding good prices for all of them.  I like the extra features of the site as well and the easy payment plan.  When is your wedding date? I'm May 9th.

Does anyone know how the open bar works? I went over some numbers today and its seems crazy for 50 guests and to spend $4,000 on an open bar for 5 hrs when all the guests are paying for the all inclusive anyway?? Cant we just walk into the bar in the hotel and get a drink anyway? (my FI's question)

There not charging for the alcohol, there charging for the staff having to be there for the additional hours that is not included in your package. I'm having 50 guests as well and I'm thinking of doing away with my cocktail hour because I'm not crazy about having to pay an additional $30 per person (x's 30=$900) when they can just go to the lobby bar, the club at the resort Desires or the pool bar that stays open till 6 for an hour and get drinks until the reception starts.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
