Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I have 6 bridesmaids as well and you're right - it does get $$.  I have emailed a couple of vendors to see what their prices are compared to the resort and when I hear back I will let you know!  Also, I think I'm going to use the bridesmaids bouquets in clear glass vases (that I'm bringing) as the floral part of the centerpieces, just to cut costs a bit.

If your using a company like Deco Cancun do they provide flowers?

I'm actually buying my bouquets online and using silk flowers ...sshhhh don't tell! LOL...I ordered them online from www.wedideas.com and they were very reasonably priced in comparison to the real flowers that the resort is charging $60-$120 per bouquet. I have 4 bridesmaids and a bridesman so it just was too much. My thought is, I can use them at the ceremony, i can use them again as decorations at the at home reception and then the girls can keep them as keep sakes after that so really I'm getting 3 times the value then the real flowers...check out that website, it has tonnes of great ideas and was featured on www.theknot.com

So, really I'm getting 3 times the use out of them over the real and more expensive flowers. I even got a matching boutenniere for my bridesman so he looks the same as the girls :-)

Hi Ladies!!

I'll be doing my site visit next month. Feb 10-13th I saw someone is getting married that day so I'll see your wedding.  Very excited!! I am going to do a 2012 wedding. Is there anyone else who is looking for 2012? I saw the list of dates has dates for this year only.  I'm sure it'll go by real quick and be here before you know.  I'll be taking pics and doing tasting of the restaurants. Granted everyone has different taste in food. Anyway we have our meeting set with Ana for that FRiday. Hopefully all goes well.  Thanks everyone who has written on this board. It's definately been helpful =)

I have a question for any of the brides who were already married at the DRC - A lot of brides are stating they are leaving decor at the site for other brides to use, were you able to access these decorations, and if so, were they free of charge?  I'm just interested in seeing if the resort makes a profit off of it.

Thanks! love.gif

Don't count on this. I was told that they get rid of anything that is left behind b/c they do not have the space to store things. Someone on this thread mentioned they left cylinder vases, when i asked the coordinator if I could use them, I was told they no longer had them. I was in the wedding coordinator's office today and did not see any extra decor around either. I am renting vases from the banquet manager for $10 per vase + 11% tax  for our reception on Saturday so it could easily be from past brides. The end result --- it is a business and a profitable part of the resort and they do need to charge for this so I am ok with it. It is cheaper than me buying them or having to deal with the hassle of bringing them in my luggage.

I have had 3 coordinators also. I know have Veronica and I have to say she is extremely organized and wonderful to deal with. They really do try to make sure your day is perfect. I have stopped by the office 3 times this week, and there are 3 coordinators on email all day trying their best to respond to brides. I set up conference calls with Veronica for an hour in the beginning of planning, and we went through and she answered all of my questions.  Some of the brides on here say save all of your emails, I have not found them to try to squeak anything past me with extra costs. I would really base most of your budgeting off the wedding guide on the dreams website. If you ask for exceptions/substitutions for items this is where you can have issues.I will let you know how it all turns out after Saturday, but I have to say I was very nervous about everything until the second I stepped foot on the property. It is beautiful, and we saw a wedding on Monday night that was stunning;. It does come together you just need to have faith. I think most of my stress has been self-induced with various DIY projects I have embarked upon b/c of this website. I will be sure to post a review to help other brides in the planning process. If you have any questions -- let me know and I will do my best to ask for you.

Oh, we are in the master suite and we got the upgrade from our group package. I would say it is totally worth it. Having all of the extra OOT bags and decor takes up a good part of the room, and it's nice to have a separate bedroom and living room/kitchen/dining area. we are planning on hosting a bridal brunch here with room service the day of. I'll post photo's when we get back at the end of next week. Bethanne- we will see you soon for your wedding!

Thats a great idea. I think I may use the bridesmaids bouquets as centerpieces too and it might work out perfectly since i think i will have 6 tables.

@VOLOSIKJ- Thanks for the info!  It makes me feel relieved that Veronica is someone who is organized and great to work with!  I do sometimes feel overwhelmed with what some of the brides are saying they are doing for their weddings  ( like the DIY's).  We wanted a destination wedding to get AWAY from all of the stress of these things.  I am bringing some decor, but very minimal.

Good luck with EVERYTHING on Saturday and I can't wait to hear your review and see your pics!  Brooke

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
