Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Thanks for sharing the pictures and review! Congratulations. And hey, those 5 days before your wedding got you a great tan! :)

I have a deposit down for October 23 next year and I'm still a little anxious about the date. You mentioned rain every day...was it like a warm tropical rain? What's your opinion on having your wedding when you did? It obviously looks like everything was perfect!

Did you do any extra decor or lighting?

Thanks!

It only rained on and off for about 30 minutes and it rained every night after midnight, but was partly cloudy most days.  It was a warm rain but alot of it at one time.  The people at the resort said that it typically doesn't rain like that, they thought it was due to tropical storm Richard.  I thought the weather was very nice.  I really do agree that it was more because of the tropical storm.  Our wedding day it was warm though.  I had a long dress with a train so it was a little warm but I survived!  We had lights under the tables which was $30 per table and I just had vases with fake flowers inside floating in water.  I bought candles but it was way way too windy!  So don't waste you money on that.  The DJ brought all the lighting so we had no problems with that.  Let me know if you have more questions. I hope I can help!  I was a complete mess before hand wondering if it would all work out, I am so happy that it did!

I went thru your pictures - looked like a great time!

1. how many guests did you have? we are having 49 and thoughts to do a 2 tier cake, but yours was 3 - curious how many it fed

2. I was going to bring ribbon with me for the cake, they seemed to do a really good job on yours, did you bring your own ribbon or did they make it out of sugar?

just curious - thanks.

I am relieved to hear that Ana (I assume this is Ana Helena) does a good job.  She has been very slow in getting back to me.  It usually takes upwards of 8 days for her to reply back, and that is with me sending emails prompting her for a response.  My wedding is December 17 of this year, so the countdown begins!  I would like to use a DJ as well, but he won't give me prices as it is up to the hotel.  It's hard to budget money when you can't get any answers from the coordinator.  I just keep referring back to this site, reading about how lovely the weddings were, hoping that mine will turn out as well.  I wish the communication were better.  It's stressful enough without having to wonder if they ever got your email.

we had 33 guests and had about 1/4 of the cake left.  it was $230usd extra.  They did everything for our cake.  We choose a vanilla cake and it tasted great!  And I am not a cake person.

As for the DJ just make sure to bring your own iPod or Cd they can play it through their system.  I was pretty disappointed with the DJ though, just make sure you have your own songs with you just in case!

My family and some friends were at Dreams from Oct. 21st to Oct 30th.  We actually saw every weddding during that time, and I REALLY must say, we watched your wedding practically from start to finish.  Your wedding was perfect.   We were one of the ones sitting on the chairs as you guys walked by,  You were standing over by the wall of the waiting to walk down and I guess it was your father came over and took some pictures of you, and you looked absolutely gorgeous.   Your dress was beautiful  it sparkled in the sun - it was really stunning.   I have to say, You guys had soooo much fun,  my daughter was supposed to get married on Monday, but called it off.  So we went anyway,  and if she had had her wedding - we hoped it would have been just like yours.   We were eating at the Seaside Grill and watched your wedding, your sister was giving her speachand we all had tears in our eyes,   and then later on we were sitting at the swing bar on the beach and  your wedding was still going on,  We all commented on how much fun your wedding looked and how it was the best wedding there that we saw,   there was another something going on over closer to us by the pool, but yours was the really nice fun one,  you guys had the balloons and everyone was dancing and having fun, and actually the music sounded really good to us, it may not have been the music that you picked, but it was fun music,  the setup was beautiful, the tables and decorations looked awesome and yeah,  you really lucked out with the weather,   Anyway,  I just wanted to say Congratulations and best wishes ........

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
