Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

If you look to the left of the picture I just posted you can see the back of the chairs included at the reception.  They're really plain but sashes would really add a lot to them.

Does anyone know what the chairs look like that they use at the reception??  Trying to decide if I should get different chairs or if the sashes will be enough!!

We had our reception at the Pool Area and it worked out perfectly.  The pools are closed so your reception is the only thing going on around the pool.  And no one else was around.  The dance floor area was a square of concrete that jutted out into the pool.  Our set up worked out really nicely for our group and I'm still waiting on my professional pictures---I'll post reception decor photos for everyone.  It seems like a lot of the girls went with the pool deck though so if you're interested in it I would book it fast.

We brought an IPOD and used the sound sytem and it was loud enough and worked out great.  The only complaint I had was that the music tech didn't speak English so I had to go up to him and literally show him each playlist that I made (ex. Dinner, First Dance, Dance music) and he still mixed in some of his own music.

Yes the lanterns were included.  And we had 40 people and had leftover cake.  I think a lot of people ate the desserts from the buffet instead.  I would find out the cost of a 2 tier cake and decide if you think the cost is worth it.  When I asked Magdalena how much it would be for a larger 1 tier that would feed 40 she said the included cake would feed 20 and then it would be $4 per person after that plus 11% tax and 15% service fee.

I was thinking a simply 2 tier cake - we have 50 people - is that even necessary?

just to confirm - those lanterns were included right?

Again, I feel like we're on the same wavelength! Crazy.

I am obsessed with that beach and even more obsessed with the gazebo at Secrets Maroma. It's everything I dreamed my wedding would be like when I started looking at RIviera Maya. I begged my TA, thinking she could somehow tell me kids were allowed (we only have 2 little ones!). Still a little heartbroken we can't have it there.

But you wouldn't suggest doing it the way you are? sad.gif sad.gif

Our reception is back at Dreams. Its expensive and was a big headech to do it this way - wouldnt recommend.

We have 2 "kids" also (ages 8 and 15) - and 1of those kids is family and so to make it easier on our family and friends from the onset FH and I said we will be welcoming of everyone so our week with family and friends will be in a family friendly resort - I truly believe that Dreams Riviera Cancun is fantastic for families + those without a family. We loved that it was newer (rebuilt Oct09), close to Cancun to go to a club and close to Playa to go clubbing and shop, at the same time some of the older folk can go for a stroll on the beach and you arent at the next resort within a few steps... so yes we love our decision!

We were allowed kids for the day at the beach at Secrets Maroma - why I wouldnt recommend it? We have to pay day passes for about 50 people our guests arent staying there (we are moving the day before the wedding to Secrets Maroma, hence 1 week at DRC and 1 week at Secrets). We did after months of negotiation get some of the cost included in that figure (extra decor, etc.), but man was it stressful and it is more expensive than keeping it all in one spot! Thankfully FH supported me in the decision to push forward and book Secrets Maroma, but without us being able to do so financially and my Mom contributing about 1/3 of the wedding cost I dont think we could have done it.

I am sure the wedding day will be amazing and special just by the people who surround us and ultimately because of that special man that we all get to walk down the isle to - although I am super excited to have it at Maroma - from conversations with previous brides here locally I would doubt that any of us would actually even notice all those details on the day of - I am just going to be a ball of cloud nine emotions regardless!

If any of you have specific questions just pm me

Fair enough. I can't imagine the logistics of dealing with 2 resorts and some people staying at each and going back and forth but I do understand what your thought process was! I can't shake the feeling that I haven't yet found the PERFECT fit for ceremony and reception and I know I'm incredibly picky, which is why we're flying down to see them Nov 20 -23. Wait, that's not when your wedding is, is it?! I'm still wondering if there are ceremony options somewhere in Puerto Morelos (but not at a different resort although I LOVE LOVE LOVE Secrets' gazebo, but it's just not an option).

It'll all come together on your day and everyone will have a blast...especially you and your man! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
