Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Hey!  I have been going back and forth with the idea of shipping our stuff down there VS, packing all of it amongst several people.  I mean we have A LOT of stuff to take down there.  (between the sand ceremony stuff, the welcome bags and all their contents, napkins, starfish for name cards, and etc.)  I am just nervous that if we ship it-- it will not get there...

People who have gotten married there- what did you do??  Advice is needed!!  thanks so much!!

I was worried about that too....I was set on shipping stuff there a few months in advance....but after reading what people have said...I've decided to pay for an extra bag (hard cased suitcase) and bring it with me.....I'd rather make sure my stuff made it there safely with me and not sitting/stolen thru customs.

I agree BUT didnt some say you cant pack it all in one suitcase?  Like they might not let you have 30 little bottles of hand sanitizers, 50 packs of tylenol, 30 koozies, and so on, etc etc... Isnt that why it was suggested to us to spread out our stuff amongst several people??

I got married in August and I took everything with me.  I was very worried about shipping it there.  Don't forget it has to go through customs so you never know if it will even make it there.  We put things in everyone's bags.  My mother and my in-laws paid for an extra suitcase.  It was about $50 for each additional bag.  That is a lot cheaper than shipping...gets expensive!  But if I were you, I would give a few things for everyone to take and pay for a few extra bags.  They even stopped my mom with the sand ceremony and wanted to chemical test the sand!!  LOL...but they ended up letting her go through with it.  So you never know!!   Good luck!

Dj Doremixx was great!  I used the, for my wedding in August.  It was 300/hour and you get music, a few cold fireworks that went of at the end of our first dance, some long balloons that they gave out and light up necklaces and bracelets.  I really didn't want any cheesy things given away, but those were actually pretty awesome!  They will announce you and your bridal party in as well.  I definitely recommend them!

Is Deco Cancun cheaper than working with the hotel for decorations?

Hey!  So as long as I pack in my suitcase they will let it go aboard the plane (not carry-on) just a checked bag.  What is your best suggestion?  Just b/c I have heard stories of them not letting girls do this??

Ana told me this exact thing..I have Juan Navarro- a 3 hr package with him. Theres no need for him to have a food pass or stay over night, so she said to me I'd only have to pay for a day pass for him.

You better believe i'm printing every single coversation we've ever had and bringing it with me for backup!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
