I put in the paperwork for the deposit over 3 months ago and it STILL hasn't been taken out of my account.  But, my date is still confirmed.  So, I would at least attempt to put in a deposit but it takes them forever to actually get to it.  If you did lose your date for some reason at least there would be SOME kind of paper trail to back you up.

I have my date set for 4/30/11 and I did have to put down $1000 to my TA directly (because she doesn't want my credit card information being held up on a busy desk in mexico) so I give my $1000 to my TA and Dreams already has my TA's company information and they just hold it under my TA info that is on file already. First $500 held my date (which has been confirmed from Ana by email between me and her) and the other $500 toward my room and also was able to hold 20 rooms. So when I get there I will pay the balance of the wedding portion by travelers check and credit card, and we have to pay the balance of the room directly to our TA by 60 days before first group arrival. So my suggestion is email your WC directly and have her confirm your date and reception locations.

We ended up getting 15 pics over the 50... so we paid $225.  We justified it to ourselves by using wedding present money :-)

Is Doremixx still the DJ there?  I recieved a confusing email form Gabriela about the DJ.  A few months back I had asked Ana to reserve Doremixx for my reception.  After contacting Doremixx I find out that she never did.  Ivan told me not to worry he would hold the time and date open.  Once Gabriela became the WC I emailed her regarding this issue.  She replied that we are changing the DJ and he will be the one to play at your reception, he is very good, and we highly recommend him, also, the photographer that is included in the package is Adventure Photos, they are the inhouse photographer and they are the only ones allowed to take pictures at weddings.  Does this mean she is changing the DJ to Doremixx or they are changing the DJ for DRC?

I got an email from Ivan last night saying he was meeting with Gabriela this week to "revise weddings booked by Ana" - sounds like they are not going to be the preferred dj for the resort...I responded and said that I hoped even though Ana was gone Gabriela would still honor the things Ana had agreed to since we booked Ivan through Ana back in May...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
