Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I, too, am also trying to book my date and have heard no response in 3 weeks now.  This is really sooooo stressful so early in the game planning....uhhhhh.  I have gotten responses on here saying it would be helpful to get in contact with a TA.  I just had hoped to at least get my date...but it doesn't look promising.  Contacting a TA seems like the route to take!

I think a couple things are going on here - first of all - they do a lot of weddings and the summer months are peak months so the wedding coordinators are really busy giving the brides who are getting married a lot of attention.  In addition, with Ana leaving and Gabriela getting up to speed, I'm sure that's also adding to the slow responses.

I've waited over 5 weeks for a response from Ana (my TA had to call her three times in addition to my weekly emails) and although it's frustrating, I know that when I get down there next month, Gabriela and Yazmin will give me the attention I need to finalize everything and make sure the wedding day runs smoothly.  So although it's frustrating to wait for confirmation, or wait for responses, in my personal opinion this resort is worth it.  That's just my two cents. I'm 36 days away from the wedding, I started planning in August of 2009 and I've learned to relax and so far, Ana and Yazmin have come through for me even though it took them 5 weeks to book Doremixx :)

I have a couple questions if you have a sec to answer them--

--Did you do a symbolic ceremony or civil? You said you sent a script early to the officiant, which I hoped we could do. Too bad she did not rehearse but at least she said what you wanted, which is cool.

--was your sand ceremony container provided by the resort or did you guys bring all that yourselves? It is really cool looking!

--For the reception--why did the music have to stop at 1030pm? Just curious if this is when everything has to stop typically or if you chose that amount of time. We are getting married at 6pm and hoped we would do a buffet and be done eating at around 830-9pm so we could party until like 11pm-12am at least. We might have to come up with a plan b if we can't rent the equipment later than 1030pm.

--was there any kind of rehearsal time for everyone before the ceremony? Like a night before rehearsal with dinner or even just a day rehearsal or something the day of? Just curious.

I really appreciate your help and I wish you the best. I am happy to see how awesome your day was. Congrats!

Sincerely,

Leanne

Hey Leanne!

--We did a symbolic ceremony.  We didn't want to deal with the legalities and blood work.  I put together my script from others' on the forum and googling things.  I can send you a copy if you're interested.

--We bought our sand ceremony frame from amazon.  It's the umbra ether frame in espresso and we caulked the glass panes.  The glass bottles with the sand were about a dollar a piece from Michael's. We didn't get these back :(

--I'm not sure if we had the equipment for a certain amount of time, he just told us he had to pack up and go at that time.  I've heard that you can keep partying until 11 or 1130.  We were so hot and tired that it didn't matter.  Some of us went to Desires afterwards.

--No rehearsal.  We didn't have a bridal party so it just didn't seem like a priority for us.  In hindsight, I should've told my dad what to say.  But it's better than he fumbled!!

Let me know if I can answer any more questions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
