Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

There was no limit, but they had quite a few bottles that were like $40 or so and when you use your coupon it is not to bad. The one that ordered, stepmom, didn;t look at the list, she just let them recommend some. It is fine if you pay attention to the list and prices. We only had 15 people in our group. It was greatm it was just our fault for not paying attention to what we were getting. Of course they want to sell more, you just say no.

We had the mexican trio, because it was in the package. I do not think we needed them. They played at cocktail hour and it was loud and almost in the way. Just my opinion, you may like it. We were on the balcony by Desires lounge, whick was real nice, but like I said, I wish we had not had them.

We also did the ultimate and there is a difference between menus. We ended up mixing and matching menus. Since the ultimate is the higher end, we had no problems picking off the gold too.

I think we could have gone with the wine cellar the night of the wedding and then everyone orders their own dinners. GREAT FOOD They order their own drinks and you order the extra wines. And they did not rush us out of there either. I think you would be happy with that.

I just need to vent for a minute too. Ana said the pool deck isn't available for our reception. I don't want it on the beach. I'm just kind of bummed because I feel like maybe if she had gotten back to me over a month ago when I first emailed her we could have gotten the reception where we wanted it, maybe not though. I just can't see paying all this money and then not having the big things the way you want. I can see some small things maybe not going so smoothly but the reception location is a big deal to me. I emailed her to see what other options besides the beach were available. Now just waiting to hear. sad.gif
Meh, same thing happened to me I booked in January of this year thought i'd wait until at least a year to go before asking for any details etc. Requested the pool deck in April and now 3 months later she replies saying its taken...

Shows that sometimes you try to be considerate to other brides and not take Ana's time but then you could loose out. Wonder what location etc I would be left with if I didnt read this forum and know to request it beforehand!

I think it will work out ok for us. Ana said that we could use the jacuzzi area if we had 30 people or less. I told her we would like that if our number of people is low enough. If not, we'll take the closed restaurant. Don't worry though. Wherever our receptions end up being, it will be wonderful. The grounds look gorgeous so I don't think we'll have any problems having a beautiful recpetion. Did she get back to you and let you know what spots are available for you?

Ah, perfect. Thank you so much, I think that's what we're going to go with for the wedding. The wine room sounds right up our alley and I have no problem spending $40 on a bottle of wine. BTW, what are the coupons you're referring to?

It's not just for weddings, it's a promo that they've had going on at different times, and seems to often be promised for group bookings. I think when the resort first opened guests were getting $200 in coupons, but more recently I think it's more like $100. I'm not sure exactly how the coupons work, but it has been discussed on this thread before.... it's broken down so it's like $20 for wine, $40 for the spa, $40 towards a private dinner, etc. Usually the credit can only be applied if you've maid a certain minimum purchase, so it's not like you are getting something totally free, but discounted.

Yeah she said the beach or the pool terrace. Requested the pool terrace now, hopefully she'll respond alot sooner!

I'm sure it'll all be fine in the end just a little annoying when you wait so long for a reply - as I'm sure you know! xx

Thanks for mentioning in this though. I hadn't even thought of needing to request ahead of time. I emailed her today to request the pool deck. Just to be sure though...the pool deck is in front of the infinity pool right?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
