From the MOB point of view. Ana makes it all come together once you are there. We met with her the day before and she gives you all the time you need with her. She has a check list and does everything you want. We mixed and matched the menu together. We had the chicken entree, which was amazing! All the food was teriffic. The cake on the other hand is pretty ugly. We knew it was going to be white, but it was not good. I took my flowers apart and decorated the cake for pictures. That made it alot better. SO take your own. Our guest did not eat it,even though it was delicious, because the meal was real filling. We had the reception in the Aisian restaurant, which worked out perfect for us with the air conditioning. It is windy and hot on the beach, but it was sure gorgeous for the ones that want it outdoors. We took our own chair sashes and they were put on with no problem. We also took fushia napkins and maracas. The tables were set up just as we asked. You really do not need to take table decorations, they supplied glass vases with candles and rose petals in and around the vases. JUST BEAUTIFUL! No need to carry all kinds of extras, Ana takes care of it all.

The flowers were exactly what we wanted. BUT, the extra bouquets were $60 each and while they are beautiful, they only had them in hand for the ceremony and a few pictures. I would have brought artificial from home knowing what I know now for the bridesmaids. The music is one thing I was not happy with. We ended up going with the DJ, at $300 an HOUR, not included taxes. They only introduced the bride and groom, PERIOD. They never talked the rest of the night. Cake cutting, dances etc. We were worried about a guest having to mess with the ipod, but this was an expense that was not necessary. We had songs on the ipod that we wanted at certain times. They would start one and we knew who was suppose to dance to that song. They just sat there. They did play good music, but for $1000, you can spend a little bit of time and put them on your own ipod.

Pictures were awesome. We had Juankarlos,(sp) from the resort. He did engagement, wedding and trash the dress a few days later. We bought everything. The package included 50, but there was absolutely no way to pick just 50. Just let him do his thing and you will be extremely happy.

We had the wedding on the beach. The gazebo is right next to the pool and everyone is right there while you are getting married. Not for us, but they were beautiful.

Don't forget they are on Mexican time. The wedding was scheduled for 6:30 and it started around 7:15. So don't be alarmed, it all works out.

Thank ladies! I bought all my starfish off of ebay... i can't remember the vendor though, they were from Florida. I then bought the raffia from Michaels for the chair decorations. If you go to shorechic.com you can get all sorts of ideas! You can also buy them from their website, it is just MUCH cheaper to do it on your own.

For the escort cards.. I bought the 4-5 inch finger starfish. I will attach the word document I used to print them out. I then just cut those out and put them on two different colors of cardstock, punched a hole in them, and tied them on :) It was very simple! I bought a 12x12 wooden box from Michaels and added sand from the beach... that was it :)

Erica,

I LOVE your chair sash alternative! Did you pay extra for your chairs? I was under the impression that the standard chairs are buffet with white spandex looking covers.... and I wouldn't be able to hang the raffia/starfish loop thingy you have. Also, how many guests did you have?

Thanks,

Cathy

Did You have any trouble getting them into mexico or out? Did you mail anything to the resort prior to arrival. Or did you pack it all? I'm so worried about customs!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
