I'm curious from other brides (or brides to be) whether their experiences with the WCs were positive and if they were reliable with communication. I know the wedding is a whiles away, but I'd like to get the location confirmed.

Thanks!
Jen

Hi Jen! It literally took Ana over 2 months to confirm my wedding date of June 17, 2011. I emailed her April 2nd and I only got an email to confirm about 2 weeks ago. I sent muliple followup emails, about one every 2-3 weeks. It was extremely frustrating. I was even working with a travel agent to try and help. I was going to give her one more week and then I was just going to call but luckily she finally responded. I know thier preferred method of communication is email but I waited over 2 months and thought a call wouldn't be unreasonable at that point.

Now my frustration is waiting for her to take my deposit from my credit card. I realize she is extremely busy but it gets a little rediculous with the no communication. The weddings they book and the guests we bring them for the wedding is a huge part of thier business. I think they need to come up with a better system. All I want is my date and my deposit taken care of and I won't "bother" her for a whole year :)

What is keeping me with DRC is all the wonderful things I've heard and from reading other brides reviews reassuring us that once we get there everything will be worth it and that our weddings will be beautiful. So thank you to all the previous bride because if it wasn't for you I would've dropped DRC due to lack of communication.

Keep trying Jen! It will be worth it. Dreams is beautiful and I've read almost only great things, I'd say about 90% of the time people are overly impressed and 10% of the time people nit pick at stuff with negative comments but still have good things to say. I think DRC will be worth it in the end!

Anyone know how the "Welcome Cocktail" in the group contract works? Does that just mean go to the bar for a drink? What about private check-in?

Glad to know things come together in the end. I didn't get my contract for my date until last week after trying to book in April - wedding is less than a month away! I did get an email saying I had the date after a month, though.

Also, I am using the resort photographer, but want to do TTD the next day. Should I schedule another appointment (and how much would it be?) or do will they do the shoot then and just charge for the pics chosen? Thanks for those in the know!

From another review I read, there is a private group check-in area where you sit down and check in and they bring you a cocktail instead of waiting in the main lobby in any lines that they might have at the front desk. It's not a "party/gathering" and all your guests don't go at the same time...when your guests arrive they will be escorted to that area.

I think the "private check in and welcome cocktail" is meant as - when you check in at your designated area your guests are greeted with a cocktail...that was my interpretation.

I actually emailed Ana about this a couple of weeks ago because we've booked a preferred oceanview room, because it was the room we wanted and because we wanted to get the honeymoon package. But now I see on the website that it says you need to book a preferred oceanFRONT room to get the package for free sad.gif

I'm sure it used to say oceanVIEW... I'm hoping maybe she'll be nice and give it to us anyways. So I would also be interested to know what, if anything, other brides have received!

I booked a preferred club oceanVIEW room (for 7 nights) when I went and I received the honeymoon package. Let me try to remember what we got with it :) We got champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, a beautiful bouquet of flowers (that stayed beautiful the whole time we were there), a couples massage and either 2 facials or 2 body scrubs, a private dinner on the beach (although with this, they called us the day of the dinner and said that there was a wedding reception on the deck so the dinner on the beach wouldn't be very private and they suggested we have dinner in the wine cellar instead. We agreed to switch and for a little bit, we were in the wine cellar by ourselves, which was very nice and romantic but then a party of like 20 people came in. Ha! We just laughed!), we got breakfast in bed one morning, they decorated our room the night of the wedding with rose petals and turned on romantic music and I think left a bottle of champagne. There might have been more but I don't remember :) Although, you don't get the package automatically. When you get there, talk to Ana and remind her about the honeymoon package. She gave us a paper and we had to take it to the concierge to schedule the dinner and breakfast in bed. We had so much fun with all of the things from the honeymoon package!

We didn't have a chance to use everything that was included with the honeymoon package. We used the spa service (massage/facial) but left for another resort so we ran out to time to use the dinner on the beach and the breakfast in bed. Bummer! We wanted to spend time with our guests during the week we were there. In hindsite, I think we would liked to have stayed at our resort for our honeymoon and make use of these things. We didn't get this at the new resort...of course because we didn't have our wedding there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
