Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hi Girls,

So I am having 50 people at my wedding. Have many of you decided where you are having your reception? I am confused about when we choose. I love the pool deck. Does anyone know the options for where receptions and cocktail hours can be held.

Thanks,

Adrian

Mine? They're just gable boxes that we ordered online and then I scoured the city of houston for ribbon to tie around it and spice it up a bit!
Gable boxes are pretty cheap online - I think we got 50 for around $25 including shipping.

Lots of new brides - welcome to everyone - there's tons of information on the forum!

Reception Sites: Pool Deck (between the deck and the infinity pool), Beach, Area around the pool (by the gazebo), Jacuzzi Terrace (for a smaller group - my group of 60 would not come close to fitting there)

Ceremony Sites: Beach, Gazebo

There are pictures that were posted several posts back of these locations. I'm sorry I can't remember the page numbers.

As for times of the year - I believe peak season is Feb, March & April. Starts to slow down some in May, June and July and the shoulder/off season starts is August/September/October. Don't freak out just yet with prices - understand that usually specials and sales will come out when you're about 3 months out from your wedding date. I HIGHLY suggest you speak to a travel agent - I'm working with Heather from Berman Travel - they have great relationship with Dreams, she knows where to get the best prices and she'll price match. So we booked last august and we have until July of this year to rebook if she finds better prices out there for us.

Hi ladies! Just wanted to let you all know that I got three different emails from Ana yesterday and she answered all of my questions. I was really starting to stress because we are only coming out the day before and we want to upgrade our package. She was very reassuring and is doing her best to make everything work. I waited a month and a half to get a reply, so just be patient everyone - she will get back to you eventually.

Someone also mentioned calling her, my fiance has done this a few times and is almost always able to get a hold of her. He called our cell phone provider and had something added to our plan to be able to call Mexico for less.

I know it's very frustrating when you're trying to plan a wedding and you can't get an answer. I believe that the closer it gets to your wedding date, the quicker she will get back to you. With so many emails, I guess they have to prioritize by date?

I haven't had time to post my complete review but I thought I would share my photos from the wedding. Anel with Adventure Photos took absolutely incredible photos. I would highly recommend just using the resort photographers! You get the pictures on a CD within a day and the photo book is also ordered. It was sunny all the day on the day of the wedding then started raining 30 minutes before. They moved the ceremony to terrace outside of Desires, Cocktail inside Desires, and reception in Ballroom. I was very happy with the way everything turned out. I will try to post complete review soon. Let me know if you have any questions though.

They were all included in the package. We bought the Ultimate package and we got a CD with 50 pics and a 40 page album to come in the mail. Anel took the beach pictures a few days later because it rained on our wedding day. We had to get all dressed up again but well worth it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
