I was not so lucky sad.gif He tried to look at availability on 2 nights and there were not any boats that would be able to sail into Puerto Morelos. I feel as though 50 mins is too far to travel to their actual location. Bummer! Anyhow, so now I am on the hunt for a catamaran charter company. I found one tonight that is docked in Cancun. This is about 30 mins away...so it is a little closer.

Cancun Catamarans, Cancun Catamaran Tours, Cancun Sailing, Sailboats in Cancun, Yachts and Deep Sea Fishing Charters.

If there are 32 or less people they have a great luxury catamaran for $330/hr. This includes drinks and dry snacks. If there are more than 32 people then you have to go with this bigger boat and unfortunately you have to pay for 4 hours whether you use it or not. I think it is $1100. If I have 34 or 35 I may see if we can squeeze on there...ha! That is $660 is such a good deal!

They can supply transportation. He quoted me $75/bus (holds 14 people). I think that is round trip but I am confirming. They do not dock at Puerto Morelos. I can't seem to find any companies that do.

Living Room/Dining Room/Bedroom/Changing Area/Bar/and Butlers area! Bathroom shower quite small for how big the rooms were. A few things:
The resort is beautiful- a bit big and felt a bit lost but beautiful grounds!
Dont love the fact you have to wear a wrist band (feel like I am bk in my old Cancun days!)
I really didnt care for the fact you have to make reservations to restaurants in advance. They were less than 50% occupied and couldnt fit us in at 8pm to the french restaurant (we had to have 7pm reservations) Kathythe sales manager was FANTASTIC! Cant tell you how on top of it she was except for the fact she forgot to mention we needed to reserve our chairs at the beach in Royal Service, We never met our butler because they were "a bit busy" they said. A bellman took us to our room. We didn't care then but it was a concern for our wedding and our guests that would be staying. Confused as to why they dont offer Oceanview Family Conceriage service.. Service at French Restaurant was pretty bad- waiter had an attitude, Pete doesnt drink wine so I didnt want to buy a bottle and he didnt even offer me a house wine (the woman next to me overheard conversation and told me I could get it- so then I asked) Wasnt very busy maybe 7 tables in the entire restaurant. Appetizers were EXCELLENT! Meals weren't that great- overcooked steak and fish. I asked for medium and it came well done. Couldn't even finish it. Dessert was great and waiter that brought us dessert was very sweet! We didnt tip our waiter- 1st time ever! I always tip! I felt bad telling Kathy since she comped us our room but we were quite surprised! Breakfast and lunch was great- service was wonderful! Scarce service at beach. I was asked if I wanted a drink once in 4hrs. I had to go to the beach bar that wasn't far though. I love the fact we can have a sit down dinner here. Table set up is great- good food choices. They said they could probably do surf & turf as well as chicken dish. I like this alot! I loved the fact that they were willing to work with us on all aspects. Welcome Party-comped as well as Rehearsal din at restaurant wouldnt be an issue. Plus other comps... I LOVE THIS... (This is why we are leaning towards Paradisus; but still not sure) will talk to Ana at DRC to see what they could do for us.

Dreams was excellent- loved the rooms..as well as the FOOD-Trendy restaurants EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE! This place would be my 1st choice.. Decor of the hotel itself- lounge chairs all over resort. desires outside deck is beautiful for Welcome Party (fits 80). Great space in case it rains for wedding ceremony. I do NOT like ballroom floor (red) but she said we could have wedding reception in whatever closed restaurant if it rains. I liked that everything was pretty much together, not super far walks to get to everything. Nice gym and spa! Very new and clean! Cute coffee bar! Master Suite is amazing on left side where the wedding will be held by the end of the year! I think its room 1200s?? We also loved Governor Suite and PRESIDENTIAL SUITE WAS AMAZING! she said she would see if mgmt would let use for wedding night and she would check on rate.

Hope this helps! We are leaning towards DRC but cant help but take a look at the huge savings of paradisus. My friend got married there and has RAVED about the service and staff! So we will work with Ana and decided! We will have over 80 guests staying at the resort.. Good luck ladies.. Its a tough call!!

Thanks for the review! I think you should go with DRC...but then I am a little biased ; ) I actually walked into Paradisius while I was doing my site visit. I didn't think the style of the hotel was as nice. Weren't there some rooms that didn't face the pool or the ocean? That's just how it looked to me. Maybe I am wrong. I did like the fact that they had more beach chairs available than DRC. I don't know what that was all about. The whole "chair issue" really frustrated me at DRC. I think I have heard it has gotten better. Did you happen to have an issue with people reserving chairs at 6am?

Anyhow, good luck on your decision. Hopefully you decide to stay at DRC so you can continue to plan with us :)

Thank you so much for the pictures and the review! I am really happy with my decision after seeing all of this! Just one question...what location are the weddings being held now and is it going to change by the end of the year? I am getting married in 3 weeks, so just curious where the location is going to be. Ana told me it changed but she didn't tell me where.

jfazzina FIrst off you guys are such a cute couple. Second thank you so much for your pictures. I am so glad I picked Dreams.

My only question how busy was the resort when you were there? I have a lot of single people coming to the wedding and I am kind of worried there is not going to be a lot of people their to socialize with.

Actually one more. I noticed that you just took a pic of the desires lounge outside. Is the bar not open every night? I have not really heard any reviews of the lounge and I was hoping after the reception to have every one go there and dance and have a good time.

For you I would say yes, because your wedding is still over a year away. Have you already confirmed your date? She responds back to my emails in a couple days usually, and my wedding is in 4 months! I would not wait much longer though, in a few days I would probably email again.

How many of you have already paid your deposit, and when is your wedding? My wedding is in June, and I email Ana frequently to stay up to date and coordinate things, however, everytime I ask about the deposit she never responds... hmmmhuh.gif Does anyone else think it is odd that my wedding is in 4 months, I booked it last August, and still have not paid a deposithuh.gif Should I be concerned? I already have the contract though.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
