Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

There are two weddings a day at DRC, so I think it more depends on how flexible you are and if the other bride wishes to have the reception at the same place, both at DRC and Secrets Maroma I was the second bride. We wanted our ceremony to start at 3 pm at Secrets, but there was another bride at 4 pm, so we are starting at 2 pm, and our cocktail hour is only 1.5 hours. Then at DRC we wanted to have the reception at the deck, and it worked out because the bride who snuck in there before me is having her reception right on the beach - I just hope that Ana separates the two of us sufficiently - can you only imagine with the music, etc? I will trust that they know what they are doing.

haha okay! I finally found it - since the forum is going so slow it took forever to load the pages! I see what your talking about with the chairs now :) I like the brown ones! But I would prefer white chairs.. so maybe i'll be going with the included ones

And now that you ladies mention the reception I better get in gear and put in a request I guess for where I want my reception!

Yeah hopefully everything works out, I know I'm the only bride at the moment for October 19 at DRC but I'm sure that will change prior to when the actual thing happens - I'm still torn on which I would like though.. hmm

I'm sure Ana will seperate you guys quite well otherwise it could turn into two parties in one.. which wouldn't be fun. Can I ask - howcome your ceremony is at the Secrets Maroma?

I don't know how far in advance you have to book, but I would say to let Ana know what you'd like as soon as you make the choice, so that you don't lose your location to another wedding party (if there is another wedding on the same day as you)!

I booked my wedding pretty far in advance, and I feel like one of the perks of doing that should be that I can have my choice of locations over another bride that books after me. So I emailed Ana a couple of weeks ago already to make sure that I could have the pool deck for my reception.

That being said, as long as another wedding isn't happening, or isn't using the space you want, I imagine you could choose even up to a few days before your wedding. I've heard of many brides at other resorts waiting until they are there to pick their reception spots... which also means that probably you could pick something now and maybe change it later if you weren't entirely happy with your choice.

Let me start off saying I am super excited that we got Elizabeth, she is a treat to deal with, and was the second contract that we signed and after saying ‘yes†- like he even had to ask wink.gif - is probably the best decision I have made.

Alrighty, so I wont go into recapping all her prices – let me know if you need more info. and I can post her price list here, but basically for wedding day coverage for 6 hours the price tag is USD 4,750, for 8 hours it is USD 5,250, 10 hours it is USD 5,750. With all these you get a copy of all the pictures taken, we went with 8 hours and also will get 550 pictured edited – that is included.

E M then basically has a # of packages, the one we went with is the 8 hours, plus 2 hours on a separate day, that is what we will be using for our TTD session. That option is USD 6,700.

The things that I am struggling with the most and maybe you ladies can help me out on this one, and weigh in, is the wedding album. For E M the wedding album, 30 pages that 12†by 12†is USD 2,250 which in my opinion is just crazy, maybe I am naïve but I expected it to be like one tenth of the cost.
I went with the exact same package from Elizabeth! Here was my thought on the album...it's not in our budget right now - but Elizabeth said you can order it 2 or 3 months after the wedding. So it is a bit expensive, but really really nice and I just thought if we have some money from guests after the wedding, we can buy it then. And if we don't, we can wait a few months and save up for it. That's my plan :) Hope it helps!

Thanks Lily, yes E M told me the same thing, she said to just relax and take our time and that this isn’t something that had to be settled right away - can I just say I love E M! If nothing else she sent me a super funny email today, two as a matter of fact, like the lady actually hears your questions and takes the time to respond, that alone is worth it!

I love the pool area too, we went back and fourth from the deck to the pool and back. I think you can change your location just to one that isnt taken.

Kym to answer your question why Secrets Maroma - google. Ha ha I searched for beaches in Mexico, long story short Maroma beach is one if not thee best in North America. As we are inviting families the ‘solution’ that was reached is spend the first 4 days with everyone, move day 5, on day 6 have the wedding, day 7 most people will leave and we have another honeymoon week by ourselves. The beach is beautiful and I am a Taurus so I am quite stubborn, but splitting up the day is very expensive and I would not recommend it unless you are willing to literary battle it out for it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
