Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

We actually did not think about guests staying around at first, but as luck would have it we are already planning on staying 5 nights at DRC and then 7 nights or so at Secrets Maroma - I think if you can swing it money wise, the change of scenery and the added privacy might be nice.

On a side note, nice to see some activity on this blog, I was starting to miss all the ladies :)

You can check out her site and she is on Facebook for all the different designs - as they are all hand painted you can pretty much get whatever. I have already spoken to Mishka and what I love is they also deliver these to your hotel, depends on where but I believe DRC was USD 40 delivery charge

Thanks Boo - Her stuff is awesome. Did you order maracas from her?

Boo - that is insane about the cost markup of the DJ!! I guess this destination wedding idea isn't going to be as cheap as my fiance thought
Most of the outside vendor fees I've seen have been $500 actually. I know El Dorado and Azul both charge $500 so when I saw that the DJ fees were higher, I just accepted the fact that it was probably an outside vendor fee "baked" in. If you bring an outside photographer from the States or Canada though they consider him/her your guest so it's not an issue. However, if you bring an outside photographer from Mexico they will charge you an outside vendor fee. I wouldn't be afraid to negotiate.

Hey ladies - my fiance and I are going to Dublin for our honeymoon...we're crazy I know...so we fly from Houston to Cacun (in cancun for a week) then on sunday after our wedding fly from Cacun to Houston and on Monday Houston to Ireland..ahhhh jetlag. We decided that since we're going to be on a beach for a whole week we might as well go somewhere where we can do nothing or do a lot of sight seeing. Depending on how exhausted we are :)

I just found a website worth a look too: Mexican Sugar Skull | Offering Day of the Dead / Dia de los Muertos Mexican Folk Art, Sugar Skulls, Calaveras de Azucar, Molds and more - for the paper banner things - super cute!

I wanted to have maracas at the ceremony because I saw on the forum somewhere a picture of maracas on the chairs at the ceremony with a little tag that says "shake at the kiss"...It looks really cute and I think that everyone shaking the maracas would make a great picture! So, I found also that there is someone, who is also on the forum, who makes these. Her name is Mishka from Mishka Designs. She is super nice and her maracas are hand painted and really pretty. She is in Puerto Vallarta and will ship the maracas directly to the resort. I thought this was great..they look beautiful and I don't have to worry about buying them down there or packing them to take with me! Here is her website...

and here is the thread about her work...

By the way...I just noticed my ticker is down to just days...yikes!!

I love the maraca idea! Thanks so much for sharing. Ana might be seeing a lot of maracas this year :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
