2010 Punta Cana brides from NY or NJ??

Recommended Posts

HI!!

Congrats to all of you. We have just decided on a place and now I am having issues. We have contacted one travel agent (we only booked it last week) to find out prices and they were insane. We just went last week paid 1250 a person for an entire week w.transfers, taxes and all, and shes telling me because its next yr its 2k a person which i find hard to believe.

Just wanted to know if anyone has gotten any prices for their guests & if so did they deal with the hotel directly or a travel agent. And if a travel agent do you have any that you highly recommend?

Any advice will help.

Thanks!!

When I started looking and contacted a TA is was a over a year away and I was told if we put our deposit down before the 2010 rates came out should could give me a deal of whatever the 2009 rate was +10%, but if the 2010 rates came out and were lower she would be able to give me the diff. in money back. So that is what we did well when the 2010 rates came out they were more than the 2009 rate + the 10%. When she told me this, I call a few other TAs just to make sure and she was right it had gone up more thatn that. What your TA is telling could very well be the truth.

I Know!!! Thats what I'm saying. Everyone told us DR is the least expensive which is why we chose it and now I find this out?? You can go europe for that lol.

I just talk to a TA. I didn't want to put all that money down for a group rate. Your right you could go to Europe of that price, but then you have to pay for all of you food and drinks. You have to remember that and also remind your guest of that. I haven't heard that DR is the cheapest. I think it just all in the resorts we pick. I know there are cheaper ones in Mexico and the flight would be a lot cheaper for me to fly from to Houston to Mexico.

Karen,

We were in that exact situation about Mexico - at first I wanted to go there, but my FMIL was "no way, no how". so that didn't happen. We felt the same hearing that DR is "less expensive", but the airfare from JFK we paid for our week is about $425/person (this is for April, and not during easter week at all). One guest is paying $2075 (for two) for six days, staying at one of the lesser expensive rooms at our resort. However, we've seen airfare as high as $600 on up! I have a referral for a TA that another BDW'er sent me to, and we're pleased so far. PM if you want her contact info. I also searched far and wide to try to find a resort with multiple price points, since for the guests, I thought the cheaper the trip, the more inclined they would be to go.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
