For those of you discussing whether to do your legal wedding before or after, we are going to do it before.  Our wedding date is 10-28-10.  I was never really considering the 10-10-10 wedding because its a Sunday and all the packages to Cabo from Toronto are for travel Saturday to Saturday.  However, we figured why not do our legal on that day.  My mom is an officiant so its no problem having her officite our legal wedding on a Sunday.  We are keeping the legal part a secret and will have a "fake" marriage certificate to sign in Mexico so no one asks us why we didn't have to sign anything.

my pastor just offered to do the same regarding the "fake" certificate and im releaved! i thought i would have to ask the pastor to be discreet! LOL

the legal ceremony in NY worked out in that our witness (one of our groomsmen) got into the police academy and is unable to leave the country so now he can be part of the legal ceremony here :) but we are still keeping it a secret otherwise.

Does your signature say you are having 115 guests for your wedding? Holy smokes!!! You guys are having a huge destination wedding!!!

I think that's a great idea to include the ones who can't make to the destination wedding. to the legal ceremony. We have one of our groomsmen getting shipped out to Afganistan at the last minute so I am one groomsmen short...

Are you having an ipod or DJ? We are using both. We are having the ipod of the ceremony and the cocktail hour and then having a DJ for the reception. I have the music for the ceremony done since it is only one song while the guests get seated, then the bridal march, and we will walk back down the aisle with the traditional music. Cocktail hour is all Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Barry White music and I almost have enough for an hour. The reception I am only giving the DJ a sample list of songs for dinner and dancing. I found the Music & Entertainment section of this site to be so helpful.

All I have to do now if download it all onto my ipod.

Our resort is doing that too. They call it a symbolic ceremony certificate or something like that. I love that I didn't have to ask for them to do something like that since we aren't telling anyone about the legal ceremony we are doing before we leave.

Holy cow ladies, we're SOOOO close! Tomorrow is September, then it's OUR month! Crazy! Finally ordered my bubba kegs then saw the 52oz for sale at Wal-mart for $7!!! But there's no way I'm lugging 35 of those 52oz'ers to Mexico.

Hey has anyone tried to put a sticker/logo on the bubba kegs? I really want to put our monogram on it but I am unsure of how to go about it. Any suggestions?

As far as music, I gave FI 2 jobs: pick out the groomsmen outfits and make the playlists. Hm....needless to say we have NO music so far. We're just going to have separate playlists (even if they have one song in them) for the cake cutting, father/daughter dance, first dance, wedding party dance, then 2 or 3 main playlists to use throughout the night. I'll also have one playlist with just dancing music and one with just slow songs in case someone wants one of those on the spot. I figure that's easier than sifting through everything.

Avong, the dress is from Davids, its short in front and full length in the back.  I just took it to have it altered, the tailor is taking out the zipper and putting in a pink corset back and then she is adding a small bustle (2 ribbons on the inside of the dress) so it won't drag at all.  I pick it up in 2 weeks and can't wait to see it, hopefully its not destroyed, but I do have a back up!!

I can't believe the time is getting so close... my wedding is in 41 days.  I need to get busy on some diy projects (personalizing cups, making shoe clips, picking beachy/jamaican music for the mp3 players <and covering Hannah's pic on them>), argh need to get to work today I guess.  I am relieved to say that my legal documents are in Jamaica and the wedding license application is being done by the WC!!

45 days to go for me and we are up to 61 people! Yah!!

As far as music goes, we are doing iPod for the ceremony and DJ for the cocktail and reception. I think I almost have it all done but did it a while back so want to look back and update just in case.

I started packing up my OOT bag stuff and it fills a huge box that we are checking.  Hope it all fits and under the weight limit!

I have my final dress fitting in 17 days but it is the week after my bachelorette party so a little nervous about over drinking and indulging!

We have 50 days till the wedding and we leave for Aruba in 47. I canâ€t believe it is already September! Time is going by so fast!

Uh I am SO stressed right now! I have so much to do and it seems like my to do list is getting bigger and not smaller. My current to doâ€s I am working on: finishing the music selections and then downloading the songs I need and making cdâ€s and playlists, finishing up my welcome booklets, order the table runners and napkins and iron them with the chair sashes, fix the custom cake topper I ordered that came to me broken and not painted right or finished right and wrong, get FI to pick up his suit and get his shoes and vest, and talk to WC to try and finalize some of the planning. OH and lose weight so my dress will not onlyfinally be able to close, but close without squeezing my back fat together.

I am trying by best to not stress out, but it's hard!

Hi Ladies!!  hope everyone had a good weekend.  All of my calmness around the wedding disappeared yesterday.  FI was helping a neighbor and my brother take down a detached garage when the garage door spring mechanism thing smacked him in the mouth and broke out 2 teeth and broke 2 more.  Tomorrow he goes to the oral surgeon to take out the 2nd tooth root, it broke at the gumline and couldn't be removed in the ER.  He's going to have to get a flipper (think Toddlers and Tiaras wierd smiling girls) for the pics (and until he's able to have 2 implants).  Glad we weren't over budget on the wedding!!  Thankfully, he is doing well and unharmed aside from the teeth and cut lips.

On a good note, went to Mom's and did a hair trial and love it (she's doing it for the wedding), just recieved the "final details" sheet from the WC.  We leave one month from tomorrow!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
