October 2010 Brides?

Well we just put a deposit down for our resort and we have our flights booked. Yeah! I ordered our invites last night (we aren't doing save the dates so we are sending out the invites EARLY), and I got my dress last Saturday. The invites will be a DIY project. I have to print them out and put them together. Not looking forward to it.

Just got our save the dates in the mail. I LOVE them! So exciting! I definitely recommend Save the Date Magnets, Wedding Announcements, Custom Wedding Invitations and Baby Announcements - Pioneer Color. They did a great job. We ordered the magnets - 50 for $75!

Getting save the dates out was the most annoying process!! I seriously started 2 months ago and the final ones are just going out today. Takes so long to compile addresses etc.

Kacie I just checked out your site and it looks awesome! Dreams Tulum looks AMAZING. One thing I noticed was that you mentioned the great rates you were able to secure but I didn't see the rate actually posted anywhere. So just a heads up. I was mostly just curious what the rates were for the same month compared to Dreams Cabo. Wasn't stalking you or anything!

Have any of you ladies started on your invitations yet? I just ordered mine and they came in Friday. I got a DIY kit and I am working on wording and dates. I am not sure about the dates. I want to send them out early with an early RSVP date since we aren't doing STDs and I don't have a website. I was thinking of sending them out January/February with a May/June RSVP date. We really need a head count since I want to have a dinner in one of the restaurants at the resort but can only do it for 12 people. Any more and we have to spend another $2,000 more for a reception.

 

Do you think it is too early?

 

Also, if you are making your own invites what type of fonts are you using?

 

What are you doing about addressing your invites? Are you doing them yourself? I have horrible handwriting so that isn't an option and I don't want to pay someone to do it.

Haven't started invites yet, just sent STDs. But starting to think about invites!

 

From my convos with other brides on here, it's rare that people even RSVP apparently! And if they do the deadline date doesn't seem to mean anything. So that is what I'm most worried about.

 

I think I plan to send invites in early April with a July 31 RSVP deadline. That still gives over two months of lead time with numbers. But I hear people will still book and confirm even two weeks before. I'm not even sure how to avoid that.

 

I addressed all the STD's myself and wanted to die. So I think I will look into other options for that.

Well, I just realized I can’t send my invites out any time soon. My FI and I want to buy a house (hopefully before Spring) so I don’t know where to address them too. I don’t want to do work or parents so I will just have to wait.

 

Yeah, I thought about STDs but I told everyone about it already and I post on Facebook about it too so everyone already knows when and where.

 

Oh I don’t know what I am going to do about addressing all the invites. I can’t do it myself, my handwriting is horrible. I know people hire a calligrapher which seems like a great idea until they tell me how much it will cost.

Thanks for the heads up Lori! I am waiting on our room contract before listing the pricing. I haven't sent out our STDs yet because I have to add that part. I just got it all ready to go- lol.

 

I'm interested to know the pricing differences too! For 4 nights our guests will pay between $416-$600 per person depending on the room they choose. From what my travel agent says we are getting great incentives too like a free welcome dinner and our room for free!

About the invites, I am printing the envelopes. It's easy and it turns out nice. I don't care about having it hand written. I will probably use a scriptina font (the font in my monogram) or something close to it. I will def hand write my thank you notes though.

 

As far as RSVP, I am going to rely on my TA for the most accurate number. Between people booking their rooms through her, the wedding website and invitations I think we'll have an almost perfect head count. I am really encouraging my guests to book their rooms through my TA because she got us the best rates AND that way I know who is committed to going and who isn't. To book a room through the TA requires a deposit and people tend to be serious about going if they put $ toward travel.
