Our resort charges $300 for vendor fees so I'm not sure we can afford a photog to come from somewhere else now. The one we originally chose was coming for the full week with us so we were getting around the fee by saying she was a friend taking pictures. Guess that won't be happening now. If my resort EVER gets back to me I'm going to ask to see some work of the photogs they have on site. This might solve everything if they are good. I think it may also be included in the wedding package too! haha Is it bad that I don't even know what's included in my wedding package....

This might all work out but I'm just waiting and waiting and waiting to hear from the resort... Is it hard to get a response from your resorts too? I've been emailing for weeks now and haven't heard a thing. I don't know when it's appropriate to start calling...

We are using Moments that Matter, but we did have to pay the outside vendor fee since they are not "approved." Hopefully your resort will have a photographer that you like so that you can quickly resolve this issue.

You should call whenever you feel that you are not receiving the service you are paying for. I think I saw on the forum for El Dorado one of the ladies said that she gave them a couple of days and then started calling. Also check and see if your hotel has a Live Chat feature where you can chat with your WC.

Hopefully your day gets better!

I'm sure you've done the math....cost of bringing photog vs. paying fee for hired photo in mexico. sorry bummer!
Are you emailing the WC? Go for manager instead. I've heard girls on this site say they didn't really deal with the WC, went thru manager only. Aggravation you do not need.....sorry!

Oh Aly, so sorrry to hear your troubles. I've had troubles before reaching the WC, I think its fairly typical. I ended up sending her 5-6 emails with the same title/contents so it would catch her eye. I received a reply the next day. Since then, I've had no trouble getting in touch with her. I didn't want to do it but I had tried calling as well as emailing for almost a week.

Can you find another photog at home to take with you? Good luck.

It was my biggest issue and I finally found someone (good) in Jamaica that fit my budget. I am thrilled.

WOW! I'm really late to join this conversation aren't I? How did I not find this thread before??

OK so to join in half way through....I'm sorry to hear your resort is charging you $300 to use your photog MayanLily. My resort has said that as long as our photographer stays AT the resort then there is no fee. And I'm so excited b/c we got him for a STEAL!! And it's all thanks to my FI being stingy and not wanting a photographer to begin with! Photography is #1 importance for me...I was willing to go without flowers or food at the reception if that meant I could have a photographer!! I found an awesome guy who was willing to do the wedding for the price of his trip and that ws it..so I was sold, but the FI wasn't. During a conversation though with the photographer, he asked my FI what would 'sell' him on having a photographer and my FI jokingly said "if you would come for free"...well as soon as he said that, Mark (our photographer) said he would do the wedding for 50/50!!! So we are going to Cuba for one week for $966 per person after taxes, so we are giving him $500!!

Anyways, sorry for talking bout myself!! Hopefully the resort has a good photographer. If not ask the WC if they have any suggestion about outside vendors that are local, maybe one of them could get you a good rate so the $300 resort fee wouldn't be so bad!!

Thanks for the support guys! I've been emailing around today to find some sort of alternate plans. I haven't even talked to my FI about this yet. He's not home from work yet so we'll see what he has to say... I'm not sure if I even want to take someone with us anymore. argggg don't know what to do!

Aaaaanyways, welcome to the forum HB! That's pretty lucky that you found such a great deal with your photog. I'm jealous.

Oh also, as you know, I ordered my mugs from discountmugs last week. Got an email from someone saying they don't have the mugs I want in stock. HA it figures! Guess I'll be looking through all the mugs for the 4millionth time to find another one I like.

I’m sorry you are having trouble getting in touch with you WC. Maybe they are just busy this time of year. I know they prioritize the emails by when the wedding date is. I emailed my WC a month ago and even though he hasn’t answered any of my questions, he has emailed me a few times already apologizing that he hasn’t been able to respond and will soon.

Welcome hopelesslyblissful! That’s great you got your photographer so cheap! I think pictures are so so so important in a wedding. I was looking into hiring a photographer, but the pictures that my WC sent me from the 4 photographers from the resort, I decided to go with one of them since the pictures were really good.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
