Site is booked, and checking out hotel rates at CasaMagna Marriott. I've been wondering if its cheaper to book flight/hotel ourselves, or if a TA would be a better person to have coordinate everything. Any opinions?

I know what invites i want to use, but that will wait until June probably.
I've already started buying stuff for my OOT bags, and have photographer & DJ set.
Wheels are spinning! Can't wait until october!

I am not sure about cheaper, but I think having a TA makes life a lot easier. I have a TA my family has been using for 10 years now so she does give us certain deals, but I love not having to worry about my travel plans and I was able to get insurance from her in case we have cancel (knock on wood we donâ€t!).

We have the contract signed with the Westin in Aruba and we have a deposit down for the airfare and resort. We didnâ€t do STDs so I am working on getting invites out no later than the end of March. I have them, printed out some at Staples, and I have more printing to do before I am able to put them together.

Wow, OOT bags already? Do you have a definitely guest list? I wish I did so I can start on my OOT bags, but I donâ€t think I could even if I did have list. My FI and I just bought a house and we are moving 3/10 so I think it might be better for me to move first then start buying things.

Hi Hat0112,

Congrats on your engagement and upcoming wedding!

You're right about a TA making things a lot more easier..I've contacted one here from BDW, so let's see how it goes. I've never used a TA before, since I'm so used to sleuthing around on the net and finding the best deals myself.

If you're moving, it definitely sounds like a better idea to wait until that's all done before starting on the OOT bags. I know its early, but I have a pretty good idea of who might be able to come--because the majority is family, with some friends, so it was easier for me to start on that and get stuff like beach towels, flipflops, bags, etc--things that are non-perishable since It's still early. But I also have a smaller guestcount of about 30 people. Maybe that's why its doable!

HI! I'm getting married October 22, 2010 @ Dreams Punta Cana!

I'm glad I found this thread because I have a question that i think would only pertain to October brides.

When are you having your AHR?

I'm having trouble picking a date because of all the friggin holidays after our wedding! We will get back Nov, 3rd. I feel like I'd prefer to have it before Thanksgiving because I'd rather have our "first outing as a married couple" be our AHR, not thanksgiving. Does that make sense?

Gigiram77 – I wish I knew how many people were coming, or at least in the ballpark. We are inviting 85 people, we are hoping for 14, but there is a possibility for 40 so I can’t really start on OOT bags. I REALLY want to though! I have so many cute ideas and I am so excited to start buying things for them. Good luck with the TA. I can see how someone who never used one would be hesitant but they really make it easier and you can refer all your guests to them.

Hi Cogswellgray! Congrats and welcome!!!! Ha we are getting married on the same day! But you are staying longer than we are. We are going to Aruba on the 19th and staying till the 29th. We haven’t picked an AHR date yet. We aren’t 100% sure if we are doing one yet. If we did pick a date we would probably have it on 11/6. I think that might be too close to you guys coming back if you want some time to unwind. We definitely want the AHR to be as close to the wedding as possible.

I'm an October 2010 bride, too! 10-30-10 at the Fairmont Mayakoba Resort, just north of Playa del Carmen!

You all are making me feel like a slacker! ;o)

We're just signing the contract this week, and are just now researching STDs! Wow..... ha.....

I honestly wish it were next month, though! Not sure how I can wait that long! :o)

Hi Sosayi!

Congrats!! That's two days after my wedding!

I don't think you're a slacker. We signed our contract less than two weeks ago. Though most of our STDs wen't out last week, I am still working on some of them. Our only rush in getting them out so quickly was that we got a really good rate from our ta but only until March 11 and then the price goes up so we had to act asap to let our guests know. I think you'll be absolutely fine.

HI october brides,

I'm on 10-10-10 at the Rosewood Mayakoba - we just signed our contract like 2 weeks ago. I did a video for our save the dates rather than email cards since most people knew the date and place but needed accomodations info. (feel free to check out! Save the date | 10.10.10)

for all you mexico brides - are you nervous about october being hurricane season?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
