I think the Legal requirements coming off a cruise for St. Maarten and St. Thomas are the same...but I think you have to be on the island 24 hours before you can apply for a license and get married in the Bahamas if I was reading everything correctly...not sure but let me know if I'm wrong! :) The Virgin Islands is really easy - you just fill out all the paperwork ahead of time and when you arrive at the port you would just need to go to the courthouse to pick up your license which is ready to go (with an escort is best). If you speak to a WC in the area (Island Beach Weddings or Perfect Virgin Island Wedding Day) they can arrange everything for you and get you where you need to go and get married wherever you choose on the island! : ) Hope this helps some!

I'm not sure they have the same requirements. St. Thomas is a territory of the United States. St. Maarten is French and Dutch. The WC on the island would know exactly what you'll need to be married there legally.

Different websites seem to have different requirements listed. This one says you must be on the island two days before your wedding (Dutch side only):

To be honest I don't think you'd meet the requirements for St Maarten. Either that or it's really expensive to get married there. I read the info from the Carnival Wedding planning packet and St Maarten was out of the question for us. Mainly bc we were there this past September and we hated hated hated that place. OMG it was so over run with gangs it looked like we were in NY or Cali (all the spray painting I mean).... Sorry to anyone from NY or Cali or St Maarten....

A weekend in cruise goes so FAST!!!!

I would do the 7 day because your on a ship with thousands of others and you don't have to see your guest if you don't want to.

You can plan your own excursions, onboard activities and dinner times WITH or WITHOUT your guest.

A longer cruise gives you so much more to see & do.

We have done a 3 day & a 4 day cruise just us and we wanted MORE MORE MORE.

Our wedding cruise will be our longest at 7 days and we have invited guest to come along.

We are planning some group activities and alone time activities.

We are also giving guest all their options so they will have things to choose from.

Most of our guest have never cruised before so we wanted to help them in that way.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
