Should I get the train of my dress cut??

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am in the dilema if I should alter my dress and cut the train. I was looking for a more simple dress more appropriate for the beach, but when I saw this one and tried it on, I fell in love with it! it didn't need any altarations at all! It is size 4 and it fits perfectly.

The only problem is that the train is a bit too long. The dress feels pretty light though, but now I think I would look silly wearing this fancy dress at the beach...so I need some opinions on weather to cut the train or nothuh.gif

Here is the link: the picture doesn't really show how long it is, but it's all I got sad.gif

Judging by the picture, I think it'll look great without a train.

I wanted to cut my whole train off as well, but they showed me why it'll kill the whole look of my dress, due to the detail on the back. So I would definitely check with an experienced seamstress to make sure it will still work with yours.

I am in the same dilemma as you. I thought that my dress would be too fancy for a beach wedding as well. I opted not for taking the train off and I am just bustling it all night. I was afraid if I actually took the scissors to it that I would hate it and there is no going back.

I say if you love the dress the way it is, then keep it! It's your day and you are only going to do this once. I think your dress is absolutely GORGEOUS the way it is!

Just know that whatever you decide to do, you will be stunning!

Good luck!

My dress had a train... about 3ish feet off the back.

I debated the same thing.

This was the bustle the seamstress offered on my first fitting

On the actual day - with the train removed completely

Removing the train was the right decision for me.

I might add that this alteration WAS NOT CHEAP!!!!!! Removing the train cost over $200. Bustling was going to cost $50... At the end of the day DH said "Amarillis, you have been known to spend more than than that on a bottle of wine, and you are skimping on your wedding dress?!?" Immeadiately after, I called the seamstress and told her to cut it off!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
