In a dilemma - need your opinion!!

Crazy! I can't believe she had the audacity to ask you to MC and presented you with an invite that clearly makes it known that you wouldn't have been invited in the first place. I totally agree with what Jersey said. Tactfully decline to MC.

Im not sure i could cancel here without letting her know that i have noticed the rsvp was over a week ago.I think id tell her i wasnt comfortable in stepping up and that id laid awake worrying, wish her well with her wedding and say we must get together once the wedding festivities are over for you both,in other words bugger off theres no DW invite coming your way mrs.

lol...I told my sister this story and she said she would have mc'ed and wrote a long, comemmorative speech on how blessed they are to be able to pull off a wedding on such short notice given that they sent her invite a mere 3 weeks before the date. I was cracking up! She's bold to ask you to do that, if she asked someone like my sister, she would be so shamed she'd wish she'd eloped!

yeah I'm in agreement too - don't do it!

Weddings should be about those closest to you - but not who's the most convenient.

to be perfectly honest, I would probably be in EXACTLY the same situation as you as I would have said yes, and then regretted it after!

you don't need her, and she'll have to do without you.

be strong, keep it brief but make it nice and heartfelt lol just to cover yourself!

Katie.

I agree with everyone also. (although I love SSNM's post with the long speech about planning a wedding so quickly - priceless!). The sooner the better also, so she can find someone else (Like a DJ - I too have never seen an MC at a wedding other than the DJ).

I hope it goes well! Good Luck!

I could be completely wrong, but I would feel like she was asking me just because she doesn't know who else to ask, and that asking me was a last resort type of thing. I wouldn't want to do it either and would probably call her and just tell her that on such short notice I unfortunately can't take on this responsibility.

I completely agree here! I would feel the same way. When I was reading the story, I was like, wait a minute - I'm your second choice and you didn't even want me as a guest?

I have to say my evil streak would crop in a bit - I'd leave her a couple of weeks and then say you're really sorry, but something important for my own DW has come up and now there's no way you can make the day. Or I'd wear soemthing *totally* inappropriate! *evil grin*

    • we ended up using Facebook messenger when we were in Mexico - the hotel had free wifi and at least 1 person from each family/couple had FB on their phone already - it was pretty easy to communicate among guests "hey, we're heading to the beach bbq for lunch." or "everyone is hanging at the small pool today".  a plus was that some people tried to get a hold of me via FB on the day of the wedding and I was totally not checking my phone - they were asking if the wedding was outside given the rain forecast, thankful my mom, MOH and a few other friends were on the group and could respond for me :)

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
