Iberostar Dominicana resort trying to decide???? Can any one help?

Recommended Posts

Hi ALL

I am planning my wedding for May 2010 and right now I making my final decision leaning toward the Iberostar resort (dominican)

I know that they are 4 resort complex so it will give my guest's more options when it comes to price. I am expecting about 70-100 guest so I want to get a good resort at reasonable price. Please give me your feedback I would really appreciate it :)

Hi there,

I am getting married at the Iberostar Bavaro next March. You are correct, there are 4 different resorts attached together - the Punta Cana, Dominican, Bavaro and the Grand Bavaro (Adults Only). I have read that if you book the Bavaro or the Grand Bavaro that you have access to all of the other resort restaurants/activities in the Punta Cana and the Dominican, but not the reverse. If you want everyone to be able to eat together and meet up, you might want to steer everyone towards the Bavaro or get them day-passes, or just have the gang meet up at the Dominican or Punta Cana restaurants instead.

If you go to the Air Transat website you will find a brochure which gives the details, look in the Dominican section - page 80/81. The four resorts all have different wedding packages, similar, but not the same. We found the best value to be the Bavaro. Air Transat gives a good group rate, $200 off each ticket - and if we book over 21 air tickets then we will get a ticket for free (not a big deal to us as the wedding party won't be that big).

Another item which steered us to the Bavaro rather than some of the other resorts in the area was that it had won an award from Budget Travel Magazine to be the "Best Value 2008". Like yourself, we wanted value for money and wanted our family members to enjoy their holiday at a good price. Please see the trip advisor link below, whilst the ratings change daily, the Iberostar Bavaro is currently the 3rd of 94 ranked punta cana resorts on the popularity index, you can read the reviews for yourself.

Also, the resort only does one wedding a day!

I have my wedding booked for January 12th, 2010 at the Iberostar Dominicana. My TA suggested it and I read all the reviews and they seem really good. After comparing the four resorts I chose this one because it had the best price and that's important to my family. The Punta Cana is it's "sister resort" so if you book at either one you can go back and forth between the two if you want because they're right next to each other. From the pictures on their website the Punta Cana looks like it has nicer rooms but I figure I won't be spending much time in there anyway!

So, we're planning on spending 5 nights at the Dominicana (8th-12th) then going over to the Grand Bavaro for 2 nights (or more if we push back our flight home) for our Honeymoon. I heard it's really nice and it's adults only.

If you decide to go with the Dominicana and have any questions, let me know!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
