For another venue that could work for a rehearsal dinner or small reception, look at the Cracked Conch. It's at one end of the island and has a great view. It's where we got engaged, so I'm probably a little partial. But I liked it better than the Wharf. I thought it was more upscale.

Just thought I would share a few tips on Grand Cayman:

CI$1=US$1.25.  Always.  Most prices are listed in CI dollars, so you have to watch out.  It makes everything more expensive.  You can pay for nearly everything with US dollars.  You will get CI back in change.

Mondays Papa John's has "Beat the Clock" beginning at 6pm.  The time you call is the price you pay.  It's usually crowded in there right around 6, because that's an amazing deal for the island.

Wednesday nights you can get 25 cent wings at the Dog House, which is next to Brick House in Grand Harbour.

Thursday nights the Grand Old House has "Sunset Jazz" with a plate of cooked-to-order pasta for CI$10 (US$12.50).  We try to do this at least once a month.

Friday nights several restaurants have a happy hour special where you buy a drink and then get unlimited access to their free buffet.  Well worth it.  It usually starts around 5pm.  Current restaurants include the Wharf, Fidel Murphy's, Triple Crown, and Hard Rock Cafe.

Cracked Conch is very nice, but expensive.  They also have Macabuca at the same location, which is the bar and grill part of the restaurant.  They're currently closed for a few more weeks due to slow season.

Red Sail Sports offers a free catamaran sail from Seven Mile Beach (SMB) to the Rum Point Restaurant twice a week.  It's on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  You can download the schedule here: http://www.redsailcayman.com/en/activities/sailing/schedule.html

Hurricane season is May-November.  Tourist season is December-April.  Last January it got pretty cold down here.  If Florida is getting record cold weather, bring a sweatshirt or jacket!

Make sure you book a trip to Stingray Sandbar!  It's around 3 feet deep in most places, and almost any tour company you go with will provide or at least offer rental of a mask and snorkel.  Bring a waterproof camera!

There are "buses" that run up and down SMB on what seems to be their own schedule.  During the day, you can flag one down for CI$2 (US$2.50) each way.  It's the cheapest way to travel on SMB without a car.

Nearly everything is closed on Sundays.  There are a few restaurants and gas stations open, so don't plan on doing any shopping of any kind on a Sunday.

Hope some of that helps some of you enjoy your trip to Cayman more!  Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to answer!

Are you going there for spa services or for wedding makeup? I did not use spa services as we stayed at the Ritz. The spa does come highly recommended. Makeup artist was good but I ended up using a woman named Stephanie who works with a lot of MAC products.

I got married in the Cayman Islands in November 2009. Hope this helps.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
