Just Venting

I'm so completely fed up with the lack of responses from the various WC's at the resorts in Mexico!! I don't know what to do!!

I know I can call but I want everything in writing so there are no questions later on.

I practically decided on the Barcelo Maya Palace.

Emailed on 7/16 (no response)

Emailed on 7/21 (no response)

Emailed on 7/30 - received a response from Claudia. We even emailed back and forth several times and I was very happy. Her last email on 8/1 requested our full names, and dates, and times so she could book the date for us.

I immediately replied with my information and it's now 7 days later and I've heard nothing!

SO frustrating!!

To make matters worse, yesterday I got an email from another WC at the Barcelo responding to my email from 7/16 !

While I was waiting I did some research on other resorts -- Paradisus and Grand Palladium both looked really nice. I emailed them both... and BOTH of them have not yet replied to my initial inquiry FIVE days ago.

I do understand that these WC's are busy but this is kind of ridiculous. I am planning a wedding that is looking at costing more than US $5,000 and they don't have the courtesy to respond? I'm willing to wait a few days to hear back but when it gets to be close to a week w/o response I get frustrated....

I know that once we have our date booked and such it will be fine but until we get things booked, everything's up in the air.. I can't send STD cards, I can't finish the wedding website, I can't plan the AHR, etc. Everything hinges around the resort and the date!

Also I need to mention that all of my emails have been 100000% courteous. I don't express my frustration in my emails. They are all quite pleasant...

OK rant over. I think I'm getting off the computer and going shopping or something. Retail therapy usually works :)

thanks for letting me vent!!

I understand your frustration. You have to remember that most of the WC's run on island time. I've always had to wait a few days to get a reponse from my coordinator but he has never not responded to my emails.

One thing that has been very helpful for me was being in contact with other brides that were/are getting married at my resort/ island. I've been able to get feedback and they have been great by answering my questions.

Good Luck!!

I know they are busy.. and I've gotten a lot of information from this forum but I need a WC in order to book a date :)

I sent in my date request and haven't heard anything back and it's been a week.... I need to go make myself a giant cocktail and stop stressing !

I cannot wait until I can be on Island Time :)

I completely understand how you feel - see my thread regarding island time:

http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t46549

Any questions that I've had for my TA where she has had to ask the resort, it's taken at least a few days for them to get back to her. And after I made my reservation and put down our deposit, it took almost 2 weeks before I received anything in writing showing that our wedding date/time was booked. And I felt exactly as you do now - I was afraid to send out STD's or have any guests start booking until I knew FOR SURE that our date was confirmed. And now that I'm in touch with our WC, it usually takes her anywhere from 3 to 5 days to respond.

It is frustrating, but just try to remember that 1) they are on island time and do things at a much slower pace than we do, and 2) they are working with multiple brides/weddings in addition to yours. I'm sure it will all work itself out shortly :)

Also keep in mind that this is the height of wedding season- so these coordinators are meeting with brides onsite and working the weddings & receptions-often several a day, every day! On top of that they are finalizing additional weddings that are 30-60 days out and when you are so close you usually come up with a thousand more questions and changes. Busy doesn't even begin to describe these gals!

To the WC's the brides in the 30-45 day before getting married window will be given top priority- weddings that are booking more than a year out are also important but do not have as much of an immediate priority!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
